The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 706

Samantha was in tears, and Sienna didn’t have a shred of sympathy.

If Samantha had her way, she'd run right back to that unlucky guy Harold, and they’d be back to scraping by, counting every penny—a life Sienna was completely over.

Soon enough, Grant showed up.

"What’s going on?" Grant asked as he walked into Sienna's chaotic living room, like he’d just walked into a scene from a reality TV meltdown. He knew Samantha had really lost it this time; this wasn’t just a ploy. Clenching his jaw, Grant thought about his wealth—there was no way he'd let any woman ignore him.

"Your girlfriend’s throwing a tantrum. Mr. Grant, be a dear and take her away, will you?" Sienna said with a smirk, clearly unconcerned with Samantha’s situation.

"Is that so?" Grant’s lips curled into a half-smile as he walked into Samantha’s room, grabbed her by the arm, and said, "Let’s go. Haven’t you made enough of a scene?"

Samantha’s heart had frozen over from Sienna’s words. She’d thought only adopted kids like Cordelia got treated this way. It was a harsh reality that she, Sienna’s own daughter, faced the same coldness. Money was the real priority here.

Though she hated Grant and saw him as the last resort—the inferno she’d rather not jump into—she knew that getting involved with him meant saying goodbye to Harold forever. She didn't want to trade her broken self for Harold’s love.

But at that moment, at least Grant looked better than Sienna. So, she let him pull her up, shot Sienna a glare of pure loathing, and followed him out the door.

Not once did Sienna mention the five million. Maybe, in her mind, having a daughter was like printing money—that sum would take care of her in old age. She took the cash and naturally saw Samantha as something to be sold off.

Samantha found herself in Grant’s massive apartment, its vastness making her feel small and scared.

"Go take a shower," Grant ordered, eyeing Samantha from head to toe.

Cordelia was suspicious, unsure of why Grant was asking about Harold. After all, Grant and Samantha were close. "You looking for him? Whatever you need, you can tell me, and I’ll pass it along."

Grant read the message on Messenger and thought, "Cordelia’s getting smart."

"Oh, it’s nothing. I was just passing by Jade Tower and saw him leaving, looked like he was off to lunch. Reminded me of that day we all met there. Just curious. I’m stuck at a red light anyway," Grant replied smoothly.

Seeing Grant’s casual response, Cordelia let her guard down: "Yeah, he works at Jade Tower."

That’s how Grant found out where Harold was.
