Everything Amanda and Ann had ever owned came from the Gonzales family. They had been leeches for years. If Ann had been a decent person, Keira might have let her keep the villa. After all, she had been a grandmother to the girl for decades. But Ann was just like her mother, and Keira would not leave a single family asset in the hands of a thankless viper.
The words hit Ann like a physical blow. Her face drained of color. She had assumed Keira was just making threats. Surely, the woman who had watched her grow up wouldn't be so cruel as to throw her out on the street. But now, it was clear: Keira had no intention of leaving her with anything.
That damn old bitch!
A wave of panic washed over Ann. What was she going to do?
Just then, the butler walked over, carrying a single suitcase. "Miss Templeton, you did live with the family for many years. Madam Gonzales is a compassionate woman; she would not send you away with nothing."
He set the suitcase at her feet. "These are your belongings. Please take them and leave at once."
"I'm not leaving! This is my home! You can't make me!" Ann threw herself onto the floor and began to wail, kicking her feet like a toddler. She had nothing left. If she lost the villa, she'd be homeless. She had to stay.
