The Doormat Wife’s Ultimate Glow-Up novel Chapter 43

She never imagined that when it really mattered, Dominic would stand up for Reese. To protect her, he exposed what she did and then he went and kicked her out of the institute.

“Sebastian.”

Elijah, walking a few steps behind them, glanced over and said quietly, “Standing next to Alan is Mr. Peter Sanchez.

“That’s Roman’s dad, remember? The boy we used to play with all the time as kids.”

“After Peter got promoted, their family moved away.”

Sebastian raised an eyebrow. His grandfather had once tried to use the Sanchez family's connections to get him into the military, but after hearing Roman had been badly injured and discharged, he dropped the idea.

Sebastian had seen Roman once more before his own wedding. That day, Roman had looked at him strangely, but when Sebastian asked why, Roman just brushed it off, acting like nothing was wrong.

Sebastian always felt like Roman changed after leaving the military. They’d drifted apart, so he hadn’t stayed in touch.

“Mr. Sanchez?” Sofia looked up, surprised. Even she had heard of Peter Sanchez—he was a big deal in the military.

“What’s he doing here with Alan?”

“They probably met in the service,” Elijah said, thinking back. “I had someone look into Alan. He’s just a regular guy. He served in the army, then started BlackOak with his discharge pay.”

“Now that Reese knows Alan is connected to Mr. Sanchez, do you think she’ll try to use that?”

“Could be,” Sebastian said, feeling annoyed as he remembered Reese’s recent moves. This was starting to get complicated.

He needed to act faster. If Reese really got Peter’s support and decided to strike out on her own, it would be even harder to convince her to come home and rest during her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, upstairs in a private booth overlooking the conference hall, Reese stood nervously in front of Peter Sanchez, letting him look her over.

“Ms. Meyer, don’t be so nervous,” Peter said kindly. “I came today just to meet you and talk about the next steps for the Blade project.
