Gabriel arrived at the Wyndham Hospital and went straight to the top floor, where his mother’s grand office was located.

As soon as he walked in, his mother looked up from her executive chair and greeted him with a warm smile. Delphine was

also in the office. She rose to her feet, wrapped her arms around Gabriel’s neck and leaned in for a kiss. But she suddenly

paused.

Gabriel frowned and was confused at Delphine’s attitude.

“What?” he asked.

Her expression changed instantly. And her smile disappeared. She felt irritated. “You’re wearing lipstick that isn’t mine. Shouldn’t I be angry?”

Gabriel pressed his thumb against his lower lip. When he saw the faint smear of color, he shrugged, as though it was nothing.

“Well, that’s Isla’s lipstick. So, what’s the problem?” he said without any care.

Delphine narrowed her eyes but settled back in her chair. She was clearly unhappy.

Anna gestured to the chairs in front of the desk. “Both of you sit down. I need to talk to you.”

Gabriel lowered himself into the seat beside Delphine, his posture calm as he turned his gaze to his mother.

“Mother, why are you here? You never work weekends.”

Anna Wyndham folded her hands on the desk. “I came because I need to talk to you both.” Her tone was serious. “I still don’t understand why Delphine isn’t pregnant yet. We had a plan. What could be the problem?”

Gabriel’s jaw tightened instantly, but Delphine remained calm, her hands resting neatly in her lap.

“Mother, we’re working on it,” Gabriel said firmly. “Just give us time.”

“When exactly?” Anna pressed further.

Gabriel glanced briefly at Delphine before replying to his mother.

“What is this really about?” He sounded frustrated. “Delphine and I agreed to take things slowly. Why the rush? Just give us time Everything will fall into place.”

Delphine suddenly raised her voice, her tone laced with bitterness.

“No, Gabriel Nothing is falling into place. Isla is taking everything away from me! Your grandfather just made her the head of Wyndham Wardrobe The moment she gets the chance, she’ll dismiss me. I know it!”

“Delphine, stop being dramatic,” Gabriel said as he sighed. “I’ve already spoken to Isla about you. Don’t worry.”

But Delphine wasn’t satisfied She wanted more–more assurance, more security. Before she could argue further, Anna interrupted

“If Delphine carries the Wyndham heir in her womb, your grandfather will have no choice but to change his mind. Delphine will finally get her rightful place in the family. We owe her that much, son.”

Gabriel didn’t reply to that. He understood the weight behind his mother’s words. Delphine mattered to him deeply, and that was why he could never let her go

Without wasting more time. He stood up abruptly “I understand. And I promise I’ll do something about it. If there isn’t anything else I need to go home now I have an early day tomorrow.”

Leaning forward, he kissed Delphine’s forehead gently, then walked to his mother and pressed a respectful kiss to her head

The next morning was Sunday Gabriel got up early, took his bath, and dressed up. As he stepped out of his bedroom, the smell of freshly cooked food drifted through the house

He followed it straight into the kitchen, where Magdalene was tidying up..

“Good morning, Mr. Wyndham. Should I serve your coffee?” she asked politely.

“Morning,” Gabriel replied, settling onto one of the stools. “No, I’m fine.”

Magdalene gave a small nod. She could tell something was troubling him, though she kept her thoughts to herself.

“I’ll let Mrs. Wyndham know you’re waiting,” she said softly before leaving.
