Scarlett Jennings returned from the Capital Metropolitan and had been handling several matters consecutively. Not to mention that she and Samuel Chalmers had hardly seen each other, Scarlett herself hadn’t even had a chance to properly rest.
Although he knew she was eager to find clues about the Otherworld, Samuel didn’t want her to strain herself too much.
"Have you finished dealing with those matters?" Samuel asked her.
Scarlett looked down at the turtle in her hands, her eyelids drooping slightly,
"Sort of."
The issue at Sea University had been resolved, but she hadn’t managed to extract any clues from Elias Quinn.
Although her voice was calm, Samuel still sensed a subtle hint of frustration on her face.
His dark eyes fixed on her for two seconds, then Samuel suddenly spoke,
"Give me two minutes."
After speaking, he lifted his legs and unexpectedly entered the room where Elias Quinn was detained.
Samuel had the identity of a Security Bureau Headquarters team member, so the guards outside quickly let him pass, allowing him to reach Elias’s room.
The person inside first looked at him confusedly, and moments later, the surprise in his eyes gradually expanded,
"You are..."
Samuel said nothing, walking directly up to the person.
Scarlett stood outside in the corridor, puzzled about what Samuel wanted with Elias, when suddenly she heard Elias’s screams from inside.
Startled, Scarlett instinctively wanted to go in, but quickly held back.
She stood waiting for a minute and a half, and right at the two-minute mark, Samuel emerged.
Compared to earlier, his sleeves were now slightly rolled up, revealing a section of well-toned forearm.
One hand casually tidied his sleeve as he said to Scarlett,
"Let’s go."
Scarlett glanced inside and asked, "Did you hit him?"
Samuel’s expression was unchanged, "I just used a bit of simple interrogation technique."
Scarlett understood and responded, "So did you get anything out of him?"
Samuel replied, "No, I’ll question him a few more times. When the time is right, you can ask him again."
Scarlett: ...
So that’s the kind of interrogation technique?
Hmm, sounds reasonable.
She nodded seriously, "Okay."
They walked out side by side, while the system turtle that had listened to their entire conversation quietly peeked out.
The system first looked up at the two of them, then turned to glance at the door at the end of the hallway. After a while, it withdrew its gaze and slowly retracted its head into its shell.
...
Since Samuel had come over, Scarlett no longer continued to dwell on Elias’s matter.
After getting into the car, Samuel straightforwardly gave a restaurant address, noticing Scarlett looking at him, he simply said,
"It’s about time for dinner, let’s eat."
When they arrived at the restaurant, Scarlett realized it was a couple-themed restaurant, not particularly expensive but very romantic, with each table having a different theme.
Samuel had reserved a mystical theme private room.
This private room was supposedly designed specifically after the broadcast of "Inspiration," since the restaurant’s owner was a loyal fan of the show, remodeling the room right after the show’s finale.
Though it was a mystical theme, the room was decorated without any hint of eeriness,
Like a Chinese-style pavilion, the room had a whole glass wall with Taoist magic words elegantly transcribed on it, giving it a touch of Chinese ink painting charm at first glance.
Beside it was a long display table, adorned with various Mystical Sect Magical Artifacts as decorations, all in mini sizes to avoid being intimidating.
There was a mini Peach Wood Sword, a mini scarecrow, a talisman-like mini pendant in a glass case, and... a round-headed little paperman.
Scarlett found it hard to believe Samuel would enjoy such a place.
Yet she was still entangled with various matters.
He had to take the initiative.
Scarlett, hearing this, felt a bit embarrassed, without disapproving of today’s arrangement, instead she asked him following his words,
"Where to go after dinner?"
Samuel asked her, "Is there anywhere you’d like to go?"
Scarlett was about to answer when suddenly on the display table, the system turtle that had been retracted into its shell abruptly sprang out its head, loudly proclaiming in a system voice,
[Did he actually call me trash?! I’m just temporarily low on energy, how can he say that about me?!]
The sudden loud shout directly echoed in Scarlett’s mind, causing her prepared words to pause.
She turned, her apricot eyes coolly glanced at the system turtle on the display table.
Liora Gold and Araminta Gold couldn’t hear the system’s voice, but the turtle’s abrupt emergence had startled Araminta, tearing a small cut in the green piece of paper in its hands.
The two little paper figures paused.
Seeing their two owners clearly interrupted by the turtle, the little pair instantly flared up in anger, putting their hands on their hips.
Discarding the lifeless paper figures in their hands, they flew over and kicked the system turtle.
The system turtle was sent flipping onto the carpet.
The little duo flew down the display table, one on each side, and began playing a kicking turtle game on the floor.
Whoosh, whoosh.
While the room was quite large, the turtle being kicked around beneath was rather hard to ignore.
Scarlett and Samuel exchanged silent glances, and after a moment, Samuel directly called over the driver.
Pointing at the turtle that had once again retracted back into its shell on the floor, he gestured to the driver,
"Take it back to the Jennings Family."
