Scarlett Jennings remembered that after she last saw Elias Quinn, her system had been in a half-dead state.
She could feel the system’s frustration while dealing with Elias.
Probably just like Grace with her owner.
Even if it’s set to act like a system, it has always held different feelings towards the creator it calls "master."
But... are these feelings becoming too intense?
It’s starting to feel like love turning into hate.
Nonetheless, when the system voluntarily asked to work, Scarlett naturally wouldn’t refuse.
With the system turtle and Jasmine Hamilton, Scarlett had just stepped out the door, when she unexpectedly saw the scene outside.
Dashiell stood outside the Jennings Family gate, his scales bristling, staring menacingly at the tall man in front of him.
Facing Dashiell’s "provocation," the man stood with a straight posture, merely glancing at Dashiell with slightly deep black eyes, clearly not taking him seriously.
However, the doll-faced girl hiding behind him peeked out in shock and surprise.
Upon seeing the figure walking from the villa, she felt relieved, immediately waving excitedly at Scarlett Jennings, while complaining,
"Scarlett, come quickly!! Your house spirit won’t let me in!"
Scarlett looked at Stella Gibson and Undying Bone outside the gate, clearly surprised.
Stella had brought Undying Bone back to "honor their ancestors," and now she’s back already??
Before she could approach, Dashiell, addressed as the house spirit, couldn’t resist shouting,
"You’re the house spirit! Can’t you see?! I’m a Flood Dragon! Understand what that means, with horns!"
Closest existence to a dragon!
Also known as Divine Dragon Reserve!
How could a snake compare?!
Stella, still halfway hiding behind Greta, showed no fear; instead, she said,
"A snake with horns? I don’t believe it, unless you show me."
Dashiell seemed ready to show his Flood Dragon Horn, but the thought was quickly slapped away.
"Why should I show you?!"
Their dispute quieted as Scarlett Jennings approached them from the garden.
Scarlett looked at Stella Gibson and Undying Bone,
"You’re back? Why didn’t you return to the academy?"
"I was planning to, but Ashton Todd kept pestering. However, honoring ancestors isn’t quick, and I took Greta to his hometown.
After all, it’s my first contracted Undying Bone. Of course, the elders in my family want to see them one by one, which takes time. He doesn’t understand because he’s never contracted an Undying Bone."
Stella, as usual, babbled away, her doll-like face glowing, eager to perform the reactions of her father, grandfather, and adult relatives when she went back to her tribe.
However, Scarlett Jennings didn’t have the time to listen, so Stella stopped, getting to the heart of the matter,
"I know someone in Sea City, who’s aware of the Otherworld, was taken by the Black Mist Organization. I’m here to help!"
After Elias was taken, Sea City Security Bureau reported to the Security Bureau and began tracking.
Stella had seen this news when she went to the Security Bureau due to contracting the Undying Bone.
If it wasn’t for Scarlett, she wouldn’t have succeeded in contracting the Undying Bone.
She and Undying Bone both owed Scarlett, knowing she was concerned about matters of the Otherworld, so they came to her first.
"Are you going to track down the Black Mist Organization people? Take me and Greta too."
Scarlett Jennings heard she had come specifically to assist, and Greta seemed slightly more animated despite still being stiff.
Warmed by this, she didn’t hide from Stella,
"The Black Mist Organization and Elias are followed by the Security Bureau, I need to go somewhere else to find clues."
"Then I’ll accompany you."
Stella straightforwardly decided, Scarlett thought for a moment, and didn’t refuse.
Scarlett had no objection, unlike Dashiell, who did,
"What happened?"
From Undying Bone’s manifestation until they successfully contracted him in Peaceful City, Dashiell was in Sea City, supposedly never saw him.
Even if he had, why mention Samuel specifically?
Samuel’s expression deepened, he looked at her for a while before speaking softly,
"Not exactly seen."
He said,
"I hadn’t told you before, when you were trapped in Lloyd Village, I had Dashiell escort me there, at that time he sensed Undying Bone’s presence nearby."
Scarlett Jennings froze, clearly didn’t expect this layer,
"But I didn’t see you then."
Samuel replied, "By the time we arrived, you had already resolved the Lloyd Village situation, so I left afterwards."
Samuel wasn’t technically lying, he simply withheld details.
Yet for Scarlett Jennings, it provided an explanation.
Samuel Chalmers had never disclosed his identity, and Scarlett didn’t inquire, linking to his disappearance after presumably leaving with Simon.
When he reappeared, the Golden Light on him had faded to a mere layer.
Lines seemed to connect.
But Scarlett inexplicably felt something was off.
She wanted to ask more, only to see the system turtle suddenly poking its head out from the Hundred Objects Box, fixing on her, the system voice cold and relentless,
[Save romance for later! Now, you need to find a way to open the Otherworld portal before Elias, don’t be a drag.]
This concerns its victory over Elias.
Scarlett Jennings, is simply too lax.
Scarlett Jennings: ...
Scarlett Jennings was too lazy to speak, merely extended her hand, silently pressing that turtle head back down.
