Scarlett Jennings looked at the "Luca Jennings" in front of her, a chill rising from the soles of her feet, followed by an uncontrollable anger.
"What did you do to him?"
The person in front of her wasn’t merely using an eye-blocking technique; he carried an aura belonging to her father’s soul.
Her father was in his hands.
"I just borrowed a bit of the aura from his soul cavity."
"Luca Jennings" said, "I told you, within the Black Mist, I am the law."
Just like when he could easily hide Gregory Xander within the Black Mist, as long as he wished, he could also easily draw out someone’s soul within it.
Before coming to the Jennings Family, he had already been to the Jennings Group headquarters.
As he watched Scarlett Jennings’ eyes become more and more bloodshot, his expression grew increasingly gentle and approachable, with a hint of regret.
"However, the fact that you saw through me so quickly means this magic still needs improvement."
His tone carried a hint of disdain for his own imperfect magic.
Watching him use her father’s face to put on an exaggerated expression, for the first time, Scarlett couldn’t control her emotions. She charged at him heedless with her sword, ignoring the remaining Golden Light.
"Scarlett Jennings! Don’t be rash! He’s provoking you on purpose!"
Gregory Xander’s stern shout came from the side, but it was too late.
Scarlett only saw the "Luca Jennings" in front of her suddenly curl his lips into a smile. With a raised hand, the Black Mist around him coalesced into a mass of black energy.
That black energy resembled a snake, suddenly lunging straight at her.
Without thinking, Scarlett raised her sword to slash at it, but unexpectedly, the black energy seemed to possess a consciousness, twisting to evade the golden light from her sword and quickly attacking her from the other side.
"Watch out!"
In the nick of time, Scarlett’s vision blurred, and the next second, she was fiercely knocked to the ground by a force.
When she regained her senses and saw clearly, Scarlett’s pupils contracted sharply.
Gregory Xander had knocked her down, but his shoulder couldn’t avoid being grazed by the strange black energy, and where it passed seemed to gnaw away a piece of flesh, leaving a gap.
Yet the wound did not bleed; instead, like Addison’s body’s black hole, the gap was filled with black mist, even showing signs of spreading and devouring.
Without time to think, Scarlett quickly pressed the remaining Golden Light in her hand onto his wound.
The Golden Light covered the gaping wound on Gregory Xander’s shoulder like a barrier. Though it didn’t completely dispel the black mist filling the flesh, it prevented the situation from worsening.
Staring intently at Gregory Xander’s wound, Scarlett’s heart gradually calmed down.
She had been too impulsive.
To deal with the person in front of her, acting rashly was the most foolish thing to do.
She forced herself to calm down.
Because without calmness, no one could be saved.
"Rest assured, this wound won’t kill anyone, just like the wounds left on Addison. Although they look unpleasant, people can still live well, and so can he."
The man continued using Luca Jennings’ face to mock.
Scarlett gazed coldly at him, finally speaking slowly after a while,
"Do you know why I immediately recognized you were a fake?"
She said,
"It’s not that your disguise was unconvincing, but because my father wouldn’t speak with that pretentious tone you use. It makes me sick."
Her rare, straightforward expression of disgust and loathing made a shadow flash in the eyes of "Luca Jennings" for a brief moment before he quickly returned to normal.
"Oh, that’s really unfortunate."
Scarlett looked at him, her mind rapidly contemplating countermeasures.
From this brief encounter, it appeared he was not someone easily led by emotions.
Conversely, he preferred to control everything personally, imagining himself as a god, laughing at everyone struggling helplessly in his Black Mist.
But...
He was not a god.
