I really did think about parting ways with you amicably. Really, that’s what I thought until today. Never seeing each other again would have been the best ending.”
But you really shouldn’t have touched my grandmother…
“So now…” Cedrick couldn’t figure out what she meant.
“Now…” Lucille’s gaze shifted to Maricela behind him. “I’ll do as you ask. I won’t call the police.”
After speaking, she helped her grandmother up. “Grandma, let’s go.”
Of course she wouldn’t call the police.
What would be the point of calling the police over today’s incident?
Maricela would say she tripped on her dress and accidentally bumped into a store employee?
The employee accidentally bumped into the shelf?
And then what?
An apology?
Medical bills?
She wouldn’t even get money for medical bills, because the injured person was Cedrick!
There are many things that are easier to handle without calling the police!
She could faintly hear a cacophony of voices from the store behind her.
The shop owner and Cedrick were arguing about whether to go to the hospital and how to handle responsibility without involving the police.
Of course, Cedrick insisted on taking all the blame, and amidst the noise, Maricela’s sobbing could be heard.
The shop owner told her to take off the dress. She didn’t want to sell it anymore and asked them to please understand.
Maricela then cursed the shop owner for being a snob.

As for what Cedrick said, she couldn’t hear it. She was already in the car, and the closing door shut out all the sounds
The driver was also a bodyguard. He hadn’t followed them into this particular store, and now that something had happened, he looked a little nervous.
Lucille, however, comforted the driver, “It’s okay. I didn’t ask you to come in. This has nothing to do with you.”
“Lucille…” Her grandmother gripped her hand tightly, having something to say to her.
“Grandma, go ahead.”
Lucille leaned in close to her grandmother, and as she listened to her speak, the hatred in her eyes grew more intense.
The car drove Lucille and her grandmother home.
No one was home at this time. Robert was busy with work. Lucille helped her grandmother to her room to rest and stayed to talk with her for a while, making sure she was completely at ease before asking Mylee to cook a bowl of noodles for her.
About ten minutes later, Mylee brought a bowl of chicken noodle soup to the grandmother’s room.
“Grandma, you eat first.”
Lucille stirred the noodles evenly, placed them on the small coffee table, and helped her grandmother over to sit down.
“What about you?
You eat too.”
Her grandmother grabbed her hand and said, “Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.”
Lucille nodded. “I’ll go out to eat something later. I have my physical therapy this afternoon.”
Her grandmother sighed, slowly started eating the noodles, and frowned after the first bite.
“What’s wrong?”
Lucille asked with a frown.
Grandma took another bite and said with a smile, “It’s fine. Mylee must have been busy and gotten confused. She probably used sugar instead of salt.”
