As Samantha spoke, she couldn't help but start crying. She pulled Sierra into a tight hug.
"Sierra, I'm happy. Really, truly happy. All these years, Zac finally went and chased after his happiness."
Sierra hugged Samantha, gently soothing her. "Mr. Holt is a good man. Sophia will be happy with him.
"Ms. Blair, don't cry. Mr. Holt's family will be coming soon to propose. If your eyes are red, and you're too emotional, how will you talk to them?
"Let's get ready. At least when Mr. Holt's family arrives, we'll be able to welcome them properly."
Sierra lightly patted Samantha's shoulder and coaxed her for a while before Samantha finally calmed down.
"You're right," Samantha said. "Let's tidy up and get everything ready. Jonathan and Melissa went out for a walk and aren't back yet. Sierra, can you call them back? Help me welcome our future-in-laws properly."
"Okay. I'll call them now."
Sierra called Melissa soon after. Their two families were already living together, like one big family.
"Hi, Mom. Mr. Holt's family is coming over to propose marriage. You and Dad should come home quick!"
"Zac's coming to propose?" Melissa's voice was full of delight. "Jon, Sophia's boyfriend is coming over to propose. Let's hurry back!"
"Really? Let's go!" Jonathan's voice was also full of excitement.
After meeting Samantha in Dithoria, they had been living with her ever since. They were grateful that Samantha had taken Sierra in when she was young.
Since Samantha lived alone with Sophia, they suggested moving in together to keep each other company. With more people, the house felt livelier, and they could all look out for one another.
Sierra gained another mom, and Sophia gained both a new dad and a new mom.
Samantha thought that this wasn't such a bad arrangement.
After all, Ivan had never given Sophia a father's love, but Jonathan treated both Sierra and Sophia as he would his own daughters.
Samantha was afraid that if anything happened to her one day, Sophia would be left all alone. With Sierra's family around, Sophia would have more people to rely on.
Now, hearing that the Holt family was coming to propose, Samantha was even happier.
She had always felt she was an unworthy mother, that she had let Sophia endure so much pain and hardship while growing up.
Now, more than anyone, she wanted Sophia to leave the past behind and embrace a new, happy life.
Zachary was the light in Sophia's life, after all.
Jonathan and Melissa returned soon enough. Together with Samantha, they were still preparing the house when Edmund and Luna arrived.
When the doorbell rang, Samantha instantly grew nervous. Melissa grabbed her hand.
"Samantha, don't be nervous. This is a good thingβa happy occasion. We should be relaxed and joyful. We're all here with you."
Samantha took several deep breaths, but her eyes still reddened. Some things were easier said than done.
"Don't be nervous!" Melissa gave her hand a final squeeze as Sierra went to open the door.
Edmund and Lina stood outside, hands full of gifts, smiling warmly. Luna spoke first, greeting them and introducing herself.
"Ms. Remington, hello. I'm Zachary's mother, Luna Yoder. You can call me Luna. This is Zachary's father, Edmund Holt. You can call him Edmund."
Zachary had already shown them pictures of Sophia's family and explained who was who. Edmund and Luna knew about Sierra's family living there as well.
"Mr. and Mrs. Holt, welcome. Please come in." Sierra welcomed them inside and took the gifts from them.
"This way, please."

Zachary looked at Sophia tenderly. "I had a few ideas but realized that it's better to hear what Sophia wants first."

They always said that one could tell what someone loved by seeing where their money went.
Zachary was planning to give her everything he owned before marriage.
Not only that, but he would also sign a prenuptial agreement, making everything he gave her solely hers even after marriage.
His only request was that a small portion of the Holt Group shares be reserved for their future children. But even then, the division would be up to Sophia to decide.
Zachary was giving her all the security she could ever ask for, while still leaving something behind for their children.
He wasn't worried about his feelings changing down the line, but he feared that Sophia might grow tired of him after many years and want a different life.
Even if he couldn't let go easily, he wanted to respect her as much as possible.
Of course, all of this was just Zachary's hypothetical thinking. He was sure that he would never let Sophia get tired of him.
"I don't want anything too grand for the wedding," Sophia said as she sniffled.
"I don't have many friends, only Natalie and Marcus, and some doctors from Goodwill Pharmacy who took care of me when I lived there.
"I just want a simple ceremony, invite close friends for a meal, then have a honeymoon after."
Sophia looked at Zachary. "Zachary, do you remember the dream I once told you about?"

Sophia's eyes glistened with tears as she nodded. "Yes, I'm so glad you still remember."
