After a long moment, Samuel's eyes turned teary. He pressed the button on his wheelchair that had him moving toward Samantha.
Samantha glanced at him, then suddenly grabbed a broom from outside the door, stormed back into the room, and swung it hard at Samuel as he approached.
"I'll beat you to death, you ungrateful bastard! Beast of a son! Worthless husband!" she shouted furiously with each blow.
"How dare you show up at my house? How dare you cause a scene at the Walker Group's front gates?" she screamed.
"How could you tarnish Cee's and Sky's names, too? You have no shame!"
Samantha's attacks were ruthless. Samuel barely had time to process his emotions before he was beaten mercilessly.
Jonathan and Melissa stood nearby. They looked like they wanted to say something, but ultimately stayed quiet.
"Mom, stop! Please stop! Don't hit me anymore, please!"
Samuel cried out in pain. "Please stop hitting me!"
Samantha finally grew tired and tossed the broom aside. She glared at Samuel with bloodshot eyes. After all these years apart, she never thought the first thing she'd do when seeing her son again was to beat him senseless.
Tears welled up in her eyes. She couldn't just let it slide after everything Samuel had done and said. None of it was anything she could ever forgive.
Sierra walked up to her at this moment. "Ms. Blair, come sit down and rest," she said softly.
"I bought an apartment unit downstairs a while ago. Looks like it's finally going to come in handy."
"I'm married to Samuel, and as his wife, I should take care of him."
Her voice was calm. "Since he refuses to divorce me, I figured I could live with that. We've spent years together, so I might as well make the best of it.
"Dad, Mom, what do you think?"
Jonathan and Melissa exchanged a look. Neither of them wanted Samuel as a son-in-law anymore. He had been good at pretending in the beginning. Thankfully, they had always intended to leave everything they owned to Sierra.
At least in that regard, Samuel hadn't been able to take advantage of them.
"Cee, don't force yourself," Jonathan said, stepping forward. He glanced at Samuel. "Samuel, we know what you're after. But let me make this crystal clearβyou will never get what you want.
"You don't want a divorce, but you don't love Cee either. Dragging this out will only make you both miserable. What's the point?
"Samuel, for the sake of the years Cee spent with you, let her go."
Samuel winced in pain, still sore from the beating. His face was now bruised and swollenβhe didn't even need a mirror to know that.
"Dad, everything I said before was just out of anger," he said, his eyes bloodshot. "I never wanted your money. I don't want to take over Sinclair Group either. I was just angry that my mom wouldn't see me and let me come home.
"As for the things I said about your assets... They were just words spoken in angerβ"
"Save it!" Melissa cut him off coldly. She stepped forward. "Samuel, stop lying to us and to yourself.

"You know nothing, Samuel. All you know how to do is lash out at Sophia.
"And you wonder why Cee wants a divorce? She saw how you treated your family and realized that you'd one day treat her the same way. You don't think about anyone but yourself. You have no empathy.
"So tell me, why should I want to see you? Why should I reconnect with you? Why would I let you tear apart the peace I've fought so hard to get?"
Samantha's voice broke completely now. She yanked the door open, stormed forward, and shoved Samuel's wheelchair into the hallway.
"I don't want to see you ever again. If you have even a shred of decency left, you should divorce Cee and go back to wherever you came from. I'll just pretend I gave birth to a pile of garbage.
"As far as I'm concerned, our relationship is over."
Samuel was left stranded in the hallway and stared at her in disbelief. "Mom... I'm your son. How can you do this to me?"
"What else am I supposed to do?" Samantha sneered. "You carry the last name of Sinclair. I now finally understand why you're so selfish and heartless.

"I'm not getting divorced! I'd rather die than divorce her!" Samuel suddenly screamed, his emotions unraveling completely.
"You're all dead set on forcing me to divorce her? Well, too bad. I'm not going to do it no matter what!
"If you think I'm selfish and that I'm only after the money, then fine! That's exactly what I'll do! I'll drag this out with her and see who lasts longer."
