Chapter 31
“Argh! Bastard!” Greg roared, wiping blood from his lip. “You think you can stop me? I’m taking this house today, and there’s not a damn thing any of you can do about it!”
Jaden didn’t flinch. His eyes narrowed as he raised one hand–then casually waved it.
BOOM!
A pulse of invisible force blasted from his palm, striking Greg square in the chest.
WHAM!
Greg was flung like a ragdoll, tumbling across the room, crashing into furniture, smashing through a chair, and slamming into the far wall with a heavy thud. The plaster cracked where his body hit. He groaned, sliding down to the floor in a heap.
Silence followed.
Mathew’s mouth hung open. He slowly stood up, eyes wide in disbelief.
“I… I can’t believe it. He’s not bluffing. He’s actually that strong…”
Jaden said again, slowly.
“Where’s the medicine I asked for?”
Greg let out a hoarse growl as he clutched his ribs, staggering to his feet.
“You’ll be sorry for this… it’s not over!” He pointed a trembling, bloodied finger at Jaden. “I’ll be back, and next time, you’re dead!”
With that, he limped out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
Martha grabbed Jaden’s hand. Her voice was strained, worried.
“Jaden, listen to me. You have to take Julie and get out of here. I know Greg. He’s cruel, ruthless. He won’t let this go. He’s going to come back, and next time, he won’t come alone. He’ll bring those animals he calls friends.”
Jaden gently helped her lie back against the pillows, adjusting the blanket over her frail body.
“Don’t worry about him, Aunty. Even if he comes back with the whole damn government behind him, he still won’t be able to touch me.”
His voice was calm. Confident. Unshakable.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a notepad. 1
“I’ll make arrangements. You’ll get this house back. And your allocation money from the Gravesend family? I’ll see to it that they pay every cent they owe.”
Julie looked up, startled. “The Gravesends? Are you serious?”
Mathew re–entered the room just in time to scoff.
“Ah ah! What a clown. You really are delusional.”
He crossed his arms, a smug look plastered across his bruised face.
“You think this is some comic book? You’re talking about taking on Greg and the Gravesend Family? Boy, you need to wake up. They don’t just ruin people, they erase them.”
