Kendall might not have had Jotham’s background or connections, but he’d known Ramona longer. Back when they first started college, it was Kendall who welcomed Ramona on her first day.
Ramona was always focused on her studies, and Kendall would constantly find excuses to sit with her in class or join her for late-night study sessions. With him always around, Jotham had a tough time getting close to her.
So, when Brianna heard Kendall was planning to switch majors, she immediately reached out to offer her help.
She never expected that, before leaving the business department, Kendall would stage a grand, public confession to Ramona—right in front of the entire student body.
Everyone was cheering him on that day, and Brianna even noticed Jotham becoming restless in his seat.
But Ramona didn’t give Kendall even the slightest bit of hope. In front of everyone, she turned him down—calm and decisive, no hesitation.
To this day, Brianna still remembered the look on Kendall’s face, how he’d tried to keep it together, but ended up crying right there, humiliated.
It was a rough moment for him, and after that, he barely spoke to anyone from his old department. It wasn’t until after graduation that he started showing up in the alumni group chats again.
A reporter—so closely tied to Ramona...
The thought flashed through Brianna’s mind. She quickly messaged Kendall privately; first, she sent her congratulations, then asked him how he’d been.
Kendall was warm and friendly in return. Brianna was the campus’s beloved advisor, well-liked by everyone, and she’d been the one to pull strings and help him transfer departments in the first place.
“Do you remember Ramona?” she asked.
“Uh… Why bring her up now? College feels like a lifetime ago,” Kendall replied, trying to sound casual.
But Brianna could hear the tension in his voice. Clearly, he hadn’t moved on.
She called him directly, not bothering with small talk. She got straight to the point, telling Kendall she needed his help to expose Ramona’s true colors with an article.
Plenty of their classmates knew Jotham and Ramona had gotten married after graduation; Kendall was no exception.
But Brianna told him that Ramona’s behavior after marriage was scandalous—that under the guise of helping Jotham build his career, she’d been seducing men all over town, and that the Holt Group’s rapid success in recent years was all thanks to her interactions with these men.
“So that’s what Ramona’s really like! I always suspected it. Even back then, she was flirting with everyone—made me think she liked me, but turns out she was stringing Jotham along at the same time!” Kendall’s anger flared as he recalled the past. Brianna’s words sent his resentment toward Ramona skyrocketing.
For Brianna, it was a relief to find someone who disliked Ramona as much as she did.
