Primordial Soul screamed.
What erupted from her mouth was not sound but a cataclysm beyond immortal comprehension.
Her cry was like a storm of raw, unfiltered creation, and its meaning was clear to all the Primordials here, because they were responsible for it.
They were all responsible for chaining the infinite into a fragile vessel of flesh. So her cry was of the cosmos forced into silence.
She looked down at the Primordial holding her hand and sighed, "Once more you betray me, brother; my eternity has been shackled by time."
Primordial Time reared back as if he had been stung. Something that could have been shame crossed his eyes, but it was soon suppressed.
A single tear drop fell from her eye, and Primordial Time, whose head had been bowed down in shame, hurriedly looked up to his sister’s face and then back towards the falling tear drop. Realization entered his spirit, but it was already too late as the rear drop touched the flame beneath the feet of Primordial Soul.
A massive explosion rippled out from the contact between the teardrop and the flame, and the entire path of the blast was directed towards Primordial Life.
It was like a blazing comet of divine wrath, searing through the veils of existence and crashing into Primordial Life. He was covered in a fiery blast of power that made the entirety of Reality shudder, but in the moment before the impact, a careful watcher would have seen the face of Primordial Life, and he was smiling.
The cataclysm of destruction surrounding Primordial Soul burned brightly for a while, and none of the Primordials here moved a finger to help. Still, this flame did not burn for long as an inhalation was heard, and all of that fury was drawn into the opened mouth of Primordial Life.
His appearance was revealed, showing that he was nothing but blackened bones, but when he took a step forward, he was renewed, and was still wearing the form of his Throne.
Primordial Life laughed aloud, "You should stop your futile actions, Soul, we have given you a gift. Now you wear chains of bone and breath, and your fury can only simmer beneath your heartbeat. We have questions for you, and if you answer them well, perhaps we shall leave you with this cage. Why does it matter if this reality falls? There are more lands to conquer inside Limbo."
Fury filled the eyes of Primordial Soul, and she was about to unleash her wrath once more, but suddenly she went still and observed the Primordials around her. When her gaze touched Time, he looked away, but the rest peered back at her with challenge in their eyes.
She cocked her head to the side as if in thought, before she said,
"Even until this moment, you all don’t see it. The corruption that had festered in your dominion."
"What do we not see, Soul?" Primordial Life smiled.
Primordial Soul closed her eyes, and her body began to collapse. This should be impossible, but it was already a good thing that they could imprison her in this manner for so long.
"You have been inside this place too long," she said. You are all beginning to forget your purpose. Tell me, if you return from this journey, will you devour your core or allow yourselves to be assimilated? Isn’t it funny? We were defeated by Eosah, not by the strength of her might, but by the slow corruption of comfort."
Her skin turned to ash when she looked at Time, "You have made too many mistakes, brother, and I can no longer support you. I would have pleaded for your life, and now, I can only beg him to give you a quick death."
Primordial Soul crouched, and she was devoured by the flames, leaving the gathering in silence for a while.
"So, it is confirmed," Primordial Life said, as he brought out a glowing chart. Soul was able to break her flesh bond. It means she has awakened part of her consciousness outside of Oblivion."
It was Primordial Life that answered Demon, "No, the Agreement still stands. We do not sacrifice future benefits for present gain. Too much has been invested in this Reality for our gains to be cut short by spontaneous decisions."
"Then how do we respond to the threat of Soul?" Primordial Time pointed out, "Unlike us, she is not restricted by the Agreement, and she would be able to reach dimensions we had barred ourselves from touching. We need to break this Agreement, or we will be left with nothing if she makes a move."
Primordial Chaos walked up to Time and patted him on the shoulder, making the latter frown and pull back from his touch. Chaos did not seem surprised by his reaction,
"While you have a point, we cannot break this Agreement," Chaos pointed out, "She is free of it, yes, but she is also imprisoned inside of Oblivion. She has no Throne, no dominion, and if there is any of her consciousness still free from Oblivion, it cannot shake our arrangements, doing so would doom her to discovery, and if she is found," Chaos licked his lipped, black tongue scrapping across his gum like sandpaper, "then we shall feast. Don’t worry, Time, your time shall come, but before then, you can sit tight and enjoy the benefits that are to come to you."
Primordial Time shook in anger, and he pointed towards the other Primordials. "All of this was a trap. You made me bring out the shard of my sister’s soul. You promised she would remain with me after you all interrogated her, but you all..."
"We did not break our word," Primordial Light called out sharply. We would have given Soul back to you after we questioned her, but that would only be possible if she did not have another consciousness out in Reality. If this soul shard were the only one in Reality, as you promised, then the arrangement we made in her flesh would not have been triggered. This failure belongs to you, Time."
Primordial Memory chuckled, "Yes, you should be thanking us for our grace. Your promise is barely worthy if we consider that your contribution turned out to be largely useless and only confirmed our suspicion."
Time vanished with a howl of anger, and the remaining Primordials returned to their sitting.
"Was it wise to anger him like that?" Primordial Life said, "We still need him to contain Soul; only his touch can bind her eternity."
"You do not need to fear his rage," Primordial Demon sneered, "his greed is far more greater, and he would stay with us because he knows that we can give him everything he has always wanted."
