THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA (IRIS and DRACO) novel Chapter 15

IRIS.

I pushed myself away from Alpha Draco when the door opened and I felt a presence looking at us.

I hoped it wasn’t Felicity. I was torn between feeling guilty and vengeful. I knew this was wrong, but a part of me wanted to believe he was mine.

The truth is, whatever attraction I felt for him three years ago came back all at once, and I was sure it was stronger than before because I was losing my control whenever he was around me.

“Don’t you fucking know how to knock?” Alpha Draco growled.

When my eyes flew to the door, I saw Delta Liam standing there. His face turned red as he lowered his head. “My apologies, Alpha. I’m not used to knocking, especially when the door is open.”

I swallowed, hoping I would not be to blame because, in my rush to get inside, I must have forgotten to close the door.

“One more time you enter without advice, I will hit you with that fucking door.” The Alpha told him.

“Noted, Alpha.” He raised his head up and shifted his gaze between us. “I’m ready to go to the center if Miss Iris is ready.”

“Wait for her in the car.”

“Yes, Alpha.” He bowed to him and left, closing the door behind him.

“Liam will take you. Tell him where you want to go.” He said as he walked toward the door as if nothing had happened between us.

“Okay.” I mumbled as I followed him.

He opened it and let me out. I thought he would stay, but he walked beside me.

“Make sure to let him know if he’s making you uncomfortable. And tell me if he is overstepping. I don’t want him touching or crowding you.” He began once we were almost by the front door.

“Should I be scared of him?” I asked.

“No. He’s young, only older than you by a year. Too young to be a Delta, but I had no choice. I had to train someone to fill the spot.”

“You must have seen something in him to appoint him as your Delta.” It was all I could say because I had no idea what else to say.

“I don’t trust people easily. I chose him because he is my only blood relative on my mother’s side. He was fifteen when his parents died. I took him under my wing but never really paid attention to him. I only noticed him when I was looking at the list of men who applied for the post. I was hoping with proper training, he’ll grow a bone and be better than my last Delta.”

But just as Liam was revving up the engine, I held on to the door and spoke. “Wait… Just a second, please.”

Without waiting for his reply, I opened the door and stepped outside.

Alpha Draco’s forehead creased, but he didn’t say anything and just watched me as I approached him.

“Alpha,” I stopped in front of him with just a little distance between us. I wanted whatever I would ask him to just be between us. I raised my hands and rested them on his chest. “Can I ask a question?”

He glanced at my hands, and it made me want to remove them, but I didn’t.

“Yes.” He replied, his gaze back on my face.

I mustered all the courage to ask him, and by the Goddess’ grace, may he answer me this time. “Where did you first meet and feel the bond with Felicity?”

“What do you mean?”

“When did you first touch her? How did you know she was your mate when you saw her outside your home, since you haven’t touched her yet?”
