The Thorne Heiress Unveiling Shadow novel Chapter 70

The entire gallery was frozen in a state of collective, stunned silence. The sound of Penelope Vanderbilt's social standing shattering was almost audible.

Dubois, completely ignoring the crater of humiliation he had just created, turned back to Evelyn and Kaelen. His expression softened once more into one of warm, genuine reverence.

"Please," he said, gesturing with an elegant, age-spotted hand. "Allow me to show you the centerpiece myself."

He led them through the parting sea of shocked faces. The whispers that followed them now were not of scorn, but of pure, unadulterated awe.

They walked toward the very center of the main exhibition hall. There, on a single, velvet-draped pedestal, under a perfectly focused spotlight, was the ring.

The Ouroboros.

It was more beautiful and more menacing than Evelyn had imagined. A massive, deep blue sapphire, cut into the shape of a coiled snake, its tail disappearing into its own mouth. It seemed to pulse with a cold, internal light.

"A magnificent, yet challenging piece," Dubois murmured, his eyes full of a creator's pride. "The client's request was very specific. She wanted a symbol of eternity, but also of consumption. A power that feeds on itself."

As they stood there, admiring the work, a new figure approached them, moving with a silent, regal grace.

She was an older woman, impossibly elegant, dressed in a simple but exquisitely tailored gown of deep emerald silk. A delicate, black lace veil obscured the upper half of her face, leaving only a pair of sharp, intelligent eyes and a calm, knowing smile visible.
