The Thorne Heiress Unveiling Shadow novel Chapter 74

The moment Dubois nodded his assent to Evelyn, preparing to follow her out, the gallery chairman materialized at his side. The man was sweating, his face a mask of pure panic.

"Maître Dubois, please!" he begged. "There is no need for such drastic measures!"

He spun around, his eyes landing on the crumbling Penelope with unrestrained fury. He saw the source of his potential ruin.

"Miss Vanderbilt," the chairman announced, his voice booming with newfound authority. "Your presence here is no longer welcome. I must ask you to leave. Immediately."

He then addressed the stunned crowd. "Furthermore, the Vanderbilt family has been officially removed as a sponsor of this, and all future, gallery events."

It was a total victory. As security guards discreetly but firmly escorted the now-sobbing Penelope towards a side exit, the chairman and a dozen other organizers swarmed around Evelyn and Kaelen, their faces beaming with apologetic smiles, ushering them back toward the center of the room.

From Kaelen's perspective, it was a masterful performance. Evelyn had not only defeated her immediate rival; she had used the attack to consolidate her own power, emerging from the conflict with more influence and respect than before.
