The Thorne Heiress Unveiling Shadow novel Chapter 84

The emergency board meeting was convened with a sense of panicked urgency. The university president, looking pale and shaken, stood before the assembled board members. Caspian Higgins sat in the front row, a smug, triumphant smile on his face. He assumed this meeting was a final, public ratification of his victory.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the president began, his voice trembling slightly. "We have… a new development regarding the proposed financial center."

Suddenly, the large screen behind the president flickered to life. It wasn't a presentation slide. It was a crystal-clear, life-sized holographic projection of Kaelen Blackwood, seated in his office. He looked out at them, his expression as hard and unyielding as granite.

The entire room gasped. Higgins's smile froze on his face.

"Good morning," Kaelen's voice filled the room, calm and utterly commanding. "I won't waste your time. I am aware of the Higgins Group's recent… philanthropic efforts. And I find them insufficient."

He looked directly at the camera, but it felt as if he were staring into Caspian Higgins's soul.

"Blackwood Industries will be making a new endowment to Sterling University," Kaelen announced. "A donation of five hundred million dollars."

The number hung in the air, a stunning, impossible figure. It was ten times what Higgins had offered. The board members stared, their jaws agape.

"This donation comes with two conditions," Kaelen continued, his voice as cold as ice. "First, the Classical Literature department will not be touched. It will be expanded, its funding quadrupled, and its future secured in perpetuity."
