The Thorne Heiress Unveiling Shadow novel Chapter 90

Claudia Lancaster's anger was a storm she couldn't control. Being embarrassed in front of everyone was like a poison, burning through her veins. Her perfect evening, her grand show of power, was now a city-wide joke.

She would not accept it. She had to face this girl who had dared to challenge her.

"Where is this… salon?" she snarled at her terrified assistant.

"The Penthouse Suite, Your Grace. Two floors up."

Without another word, she stormed out of her empty ballroom. Her two large bodyguards followed close behind, their faces grim. They struggled to keep up with her furious pace.

She swept through the hotel lobby, ignoring the staring staff. She stabbed the button for the private elevator, her knuckles white. As the doors slid shut, she was trapped with her own reflection in the mirrored walls. The face staring back at her was a mask of pure hate, the elegant makeup unable to hide the ugly twist of her lips. The soft music playing in the elevator felt like a mockery.

When the elevator doors opened, she could hear it. The sound of happy people talking and laughing. The sound of success. It was the sound of her own failure.

She marched down the hall, her heels clicking like gunshots on the marble floor. She didn't pause at the entrance to the Penthouse Suite. She didn't wait to be announced.

She threw open the grand double doors with all her strength.

The doors slammed against the walls with a loud bang.

The room went silent. Every conversation stopped. Every head turned to the door.

Claudia stood there, framed in the doorway, looking like a dark, angry queen. Her diamonds flashed under the lights like angry sparks. Her eyes, burning with rage, searched the room for the person who had caused her shame.
