Chapter 272 More than hungry
**Mia’s POV**
“Mia!” Sarah’s mom waved me over. “Thank God you’re here. I was starting to think I was the only parent crazy enough to bring enough supplies.”
I laughed, setting my bag down next to hers. “Great minds think alike. What did you bring?”
“Everything,” she said.
“Okay, families!” Mrs. Rodriguez called out, clapping her hands to get everyone’s attention. “Let’s gather in a circle so we can start our nature adventure!”
The children immediately ran toward her, forming a somewhat chaotic circle on the grass. Parents followed more slowly, some looking enthusiastic, others checking their watches.
“Today we’re going to explore Central Park and see what kinds of wildlife we can find,” Mrs. Rodriguez announced. “Who can tell me what kind of animals might live in the park?”
“Squirrels!” shouted about ten children at once.
“Birds!” added Emma.
“Dogs!” said one boy.
“Those are pets, not wildlife,” Ethan corrected seriously.
“Actually,” Mrs. Rodriguez said with a smile, “dogs are animals too, even if they’re domestic. What about wild animals?”
“Raccoons!” Alexander announced proudly, remembering Tommy Chen’s story.
“That’s right! There are raccoons in Central Park. What else?”
I noticed a late arrival walking toward our group.
An older woman, maybe in her sixties. Walking beside her, looking small and uncertain, was Madison.
Madison herself looked smaller than usual, if that was possible. She was wearing a pristine white dress with matching shoes – completely impractical for a nature hike.
“Mrs. Rodriguez,” the older woman approached our teacher with the confidence of someone accustomed to immediate attention. ” I’ll be supervising Madison today.”
