To Love a Shadow, To Be the Sun novel Chapter 275

“It’s just a recording. With Brian on our side, there’s no way you can pin anything on my daughter.”

Gregory still thought he held the winning hand.

Elara gave a cold laugh. “There might not be a camera on the outpatient rooftop, but the security feed from the in-patient building has a clear view. With this recording and the footage, I think that’s more than enough evidence.”

Gregory’s temper flared. “If it weren’t for my guidance and my platform, you’d have nothing! You put my name on your paper, gave me all the credit—that was your privilege! And now you dare to use my daughter to threaten me? Tell me where she is! What have you done to her?”

Unbothered, Elara calmly tapped her phone, dialing emergency services. “She tried to kill someone and then ran away. The police can help you find her.”

She was about to press call.

Gregory’s confidence was already beginning to crack.

He realized that as long as his daughter could marry Brian, he wouldn’t need the prestige of being a professor anymore—their future would be set. In a panic, he blurted, “What do you want me to do?”

Elara stopped dialing and arched an eyebrow. “Go to the press conference right now. In front of everyone, admit exactly how you’ve stolen and claimed your students’ research and publications all these years. Name every detail.”

What was supposed to be an engagement announcement turned into Gregory’s public confession.

Mrs. Goldsmith sat among the audience, her face draining of color as she listened to his admissions.

She rose from her seat, shouting, “Have you lost your mind? This is being broadcast live!”

But Gregory acted as if he hadn’t heard her, turning to the cameras and clearly laying out everything he’d done.

A reporter asked if there was any proof of these allegations.

Gregory tried to appear as if he were being forced, but just then Hayden Everly stepped forward.

“I have all the evidence!”

Gregory stared, stunned, as his prized protégé betrayed him.

Hayden’s gaze was steady. “Professor, since you’ve confessed, just accept the consequences. I can’t cover for you anymore.”

Stealing student research and claiming their work as his own would cost Gregory not just his professorship, but everything he’d built—his position as president of the New Energy Association, his reputation, his standing in the academic world. Everything vanished in an instant.

Mrs. Goldsmith was unraveling, her elegant updo now a tangled mess in her hands.

“You have to marry her! My daughter’s life is ruined. You must—”

Brian stepped aside coldly. “I don’t take in garbage.”

He waved a hand at the bodyguards. “Get this lunatic out of here.”

Gregory was speechless.

“Elara—it was Elara! She broke her promise, called the cops on my daughter…”

Not caring about his wife anymore, Gregory hurried off toward the café.

Elara had just finished watching the live broadcast. Sitting in her wheelchair, she was being pushed out by Quincy Shelton.

As they reached the car, Gregory caught up, breathless.

“You conniving witch! You had my daughter’s uterus removed and then called the police—you’re inhuman!”

Elara’s eyebrows lifted slightly, about to reply, when Jason leaned out from the front passenger seat. “Professor Goldsmith, your daughter attacked me on the rooftop. If I don’t report it, how can I call myself an honest citizen?”
