To Love a Shadow, To Be the Sun novel Chapter 334

Elara glanced up, trying to be discreet, and realized that the woman with the booming voice was tall and athletic, her features sharp with determination.

Zane nodded. “Let’s take care of the body first, then get something to eat.”

“Yes, sir!”

The woman dipped her head respectfully and hurried off.

Noticing Elara’s confusion, Zane offered a quick introduction. “That’s Renata. She’s our… heavy hitter.”

Elara wriggled out of his arms. “Aren’t you embarrassed? Help me up.”

This time, Zane didn’t argue. He simply reached out and pulled her to her feet.

Elara tried to take a step, only to realize that after being tied up for so long, her legs were numb and unsteady.

“I’m right here. You don’t have to play tough,” Zane said, lips twitching in a wry smile as he scooped her up again.

Elara wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling like his performance was just a bit much.

Meanwhile, Neely was locked in another small room, guarded by two team members.

Renata and another teammate were busy in the main room, boiling up some instant noodles on the wood stove, cracking in a few fresh eggs they’d just bought from a local farmer.

Before long, rain began to fall outside, and the cozy kitchen filled with the warm aroma of noodles.

Renata scooped Elara’s portion into a lunchbox and brought it over. Zane took it from her, blew on it to cool, and asked, “Want me to feed you?”

Elara shot him a look. “Put it down.”

Zane chuckled. “This is VIP service. Not everyone gets this, you know.”

Across from them, Renata couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Zane glanced at her, and she instantly straightened, clearing her throat. “Miss Jules, we had rations, but Mr. Lawrence thought you might not be used to them, so he asked us to make noodles instead.”

Elara felt a bit awkward. “I never said I wouldn’t eat. I just have hands and feet—I’m not used to being fed by someone else.”
