The Need for Vengeance
Chapter 122
Tiffany’s POV
Two Months Later:
That f*****g fat b***h has had me locked up for over two months. I can’t get an attorney worth a damn to take my case. My entire plan hinges on my ability to go to court. I’m desperate now. I hate this place. It’s dirty, and I don’t have any real hygiene products. Just soap and shampoo. My hair needs to be cut, and my roots need to be dyed. I’m being treated like an animal in here.
I wish I’d killed her when I had the chance. I’ve hated her since she was born. Mom always sucked up to Alicia Caldwell. She was her meal ticket, and she was going to make the most of it. It was working until it all fell apart. Mom didn’t say it, but I know she blames me for the
situation their in.
Losing the backing of the Caldwells hurt Dad’s company. So what? That little whiner got what she deserved. She might be a Caldwell, but she never deserved to be a Vaughn. My brother deserved better. Gretchen was the right choice. I can’t believe that he was willing to turn his back on me, for Ana. He hasn’t come to visit or speak to me since I got in here. He’d better be glad that he’s my brother, or I would be coming for him, too.
The guard my father paid off managed to smuggle a phone in for me. No charger, there’s no way to charge it in my cell. He takes it to charge for me and brings it back each night before lockdown. The other women here hate us and try to come after Gretchen and me. Thankfully, we were put in the same cell. It’s hard in here, but at least it’s just jail, for the moment.
My mother is working hard to find a qualified attorney for me, but no one will take my case. My attorney ran around telling everyone what happened. So I’m not holding my breathe in here. I text Mom and Dad; I can’t call them, or one of the narks will tell on me for having the
phone.
I’ve given up. I’m willing to accept any attorney now, as long as we can return to court. We already have it planned out. We will be escaping from the courthouse. The guard who got me the phone, Eddie, will be helping us. He always signs up for overtime, so no one will think twice about him signing up for the courthouse duty. Dad’s going to pay him another $250,000 on top of the $100,000 he’s already given him.
Eddie will be flying out with us. He doesn’t have anything holding him here. I will make it clear to him when we land that he doesn’t need to come looking for Gretchen or me again. He

already put the first down payment on a home. He found one that needed repairs, and was able to buy it for a steal. He will still have the second half of the money to live on there. He has just sold his home here and used the money to pay for renovations that he couldn’t do himself. He’s flying out there every weekend to get everything set up.
He’s happy to help us. His life here was hand–to–mouth. I thought he would ask for a lot more money, and I was actually willing to have Dad pay him a million. But if he wants to lowball himself, I’m going to let him. That wasn’t the only payment he’s receiving. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get out of jail and get out of here.
Eddie doesn’t care that we have no interest in him, as long as he gets a release. That’s another thing that Ana needs to pay for. I’ve never had to humble myself like this before. I hate her so much. The only thing that gives me any happiness is the fact that one day, she will know true fear right before I end her. It’s the only thing that keeps me hanging on at the
moment.
Dad picked the Maldives for a reason. I wasn’t willing to go anywhere where there wasn’t a beach, or be able to have some fun. Of the countries with no extradition, it was the only one that was acceptable. Mom and Dad would have to lie low for a while. They already warned me that they wouldn’t be able to visit me for a while. However, they selected a nice condo. I saw the pictures. It’s in a gated community and has three master bedrooms. Dad is going to buy us a car after we arrive there. He has already created an account in my new name and transferred five million into it to get us set up.
I saw what happened to those women who were causing Ana so much trouble. Everyone thinks she’s so great. Now I know why we weren’t hired on at Fashion Forward. Gretchen is as mad as I am about it. We were perfect for that company. We thought it was because
Gwen was a b***h and listened to Ana. Now we know it was Ana the whole time. That is going to cost her some additional pain. She honestly thought that she could get away with that? Not going to happen.
I’m up to speed on everything she’s done. Dad hired a private detective to follow her, and we found out that she lives in a gated community. He had to follow her with a drone to see
where she lived. Holden has a home there, but hasn’t lived there in months. I’m sure
something happened, but he’s not talking. He picked a side, and he picked the wrong side. I’m his freaking sister, for God’s sake. My side should be the only side he picks.
“Tiffany, can I text my Mom?” Gretchen asked quietly.
She had stood up to ask, as voices carry here. If another guard saw us with the phone, we’d lose any connection to the outside world. We can’t take that chance. We darkened the screen all the way down.
I handed her the phone and said, “Keep it out of sight.” She knows the drill, but I always warn

her. If she gets us busted, I’m not allowing her to come with me. She will be on her own.
I stared at the ceiling and thought of what we needed to do. I haven’t mentioned my plans for Ana. My parents still believe that I just need to get free and run away. But how can I live happily knowing that Ana is doing so much better than me?
It’s been like that our whole lives. She’s so sweet. She’s so smart. Ana’s on the honor roll again. Ana will make the perfect daughter–in–law. That one really pissed me off. Mom couldn’t wait to try to get her claws on some of the Caldwell’s money. She knew that Ana was going to come into some big money when she turned thirty. That was her plan all along. Alicia had told her in confidence back when I was a baby. Mom had overheard some of the conversation. Intentionally, not accidentally. That’s when she came up with the plan for our families to be connected by marriage.
Alicia should have realized that Mom was leading her, but she honestly thought that they were friends. She never suspected a thing, all this time. Holden still doesn’t know about Ana’s inheritance, but he should. Seth got his when he turned thirty. They were both to receive an inheritance. Half of it was from their grandparents, and the other half came from their
parents.
Mom told me all about it when I turned sixteen. I always found Seth to be handsome, but knowing he was getting that kind of money made him even more attractive to me. It’s not chump change either; it’s a hundred million dollars. A hefty sum, no matter how you looked at it. I took a shot that day when I caught him alone. I wanted him to let Ana go out to the pool house by herself. I wanted to spend time with Seth. He and Holden were always together. I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity.
I thought he would claim me as his, but after we hooked up, he avoided me. When I finally got him alone the following Thanksgiving, he told me it was a mistake. He didn’t like me, and I would never be his girlfriend. How could he treat me like that? Well, I got him back. Every time I tuned up his precious sister, I got him back. He has the nerve to use me and then toss me aside? I’m not going to let that go. I almost wished she had told him what I was doing. That way, he would realize that I was treating her the same way he treated me. Like, I didn’t matter.
m a letter, right before I leave. That’s actually a great idea. He’ll get it after nis sister. That should send him over the edge, knowing that he was one of the reasons I targeted her. He would be sorry he threw me away when he finds out, but it ill be too late to do anything about it. I need to find out what to do about Ana’s husband next. Their ad came out last month. It was even worse than the jewelry ad. He clearly adores her. How?
He either has bad judgment or bad eyesight. Probably both. You could feel the chemistry between them. Why does that b***h have it all, and I’m stuck in this cell with Gretchen? Life
