Under the Veil I Rule novel Chapter 380

Amara made her way over to Mr. Kevin Everly, exchanged a few words with him, and glanced around the room, puzzled. Where was Finnian? An event like this was exactly the sort of occasion he’d usually attend—his status demanded it. Liliana was here, after all, and if she could make it, so could Amara. Why wouldn’t Finnian be present?

Noticing the confusion on her face, Mr. Kevin Everly leaned in, lowering his voice conspiratorially. “Emma wanted Finn to come tonight, but he wouldn’t give her the satisfaction. Said he didn’t have time. They actually had a fight over it.”

So that was the story… Amara doubted Finnian was truly too busy; he simply didn’t want to be here. How had things between mother and son deteriorated this far?

But then, thinking of her own strained relationship with her father, she realized she wasn’t in any position to judge. She lowered her eyes and said nothing.

Just then, she spotted a man a few yards away, in his thirties, with shoulder-length hair. He waved at her. Pausing, she gave a brief explanation to Mr. Kevin Everly, lifted her dress slightly, and made her way over.

The man was Mr. Frost, whose next TV series, *Letters from the Past*, would also be shooting in Wye. Amara would be out of town for her maternity leave during filming, so she wouldn’t be with the crew as much as usual. That made this opening night especially important—she needed to discuss every detail with the director while she had the chance, to ensure everything would run smoothly later on.

After chatting with Mr. Frost over drinks and covering all the necessary points, he excused himself, mentioning he was off to talk with one of the younger actors. Since Mr. Frost rarely came back from his location shoots, it made sense he’d want to catch up with more than just her. Amara nodded in understanding and let him go.

She turned to look for Mr. Kevin Everly, scanning the room, but he was nowhere to be seen. Where had he gone?

At that moment, a server approached, speaking quietly. “Ms. Sullivan? Mr. Kevin Everly asked if you could join him upstairs.”
