Although the coach hadn't explicitly stated it, Charlene easily read between the lines.
Even if Jasmine's coach hadn't said anything, Charlene could have guessed that Jasmine took up fencing because of Thorne or Vesta's influence.
Charlene didn't dwell on it too much.
Despite having relinquished custody of Jasmine and knowing she might not be a big part of Jasmine's future, Jasmine was still her flesh and blood. No matter how distant they might become, she wanted the best for her daughter.
As long as fencing was beneficial for Jasmine, that was enough for her.
Who inspired Jasmine to learn wasn't important to her.
Charlene didn't hover over Jasmine during training sessions.
That morning, as Jasmine's practice wrapped up, Charlene was engrossed in her phone, researching something, when she felt someone approach.
She looked up, and sure enough, Thorne's deep-set eyes met hers.
Charlene looked away almost immediately after making eye contact.
“What kind of model data is that?” Thorne asked.
Charlene tucked her phone away without answering.
Thorne seemed ready to continue the conversation, but then Jasmine finished her session, removed her mask, and ran over. “Dad!”
Thorne chuckled, ruffling her hair. “All done training?”
“Yup!” Jasmine replied, then turned to Charlene, asking her to wipe her sweat. She looked up at both Thorne and Charlene. “I'm hungry. Can we go grab some lunch?”
“Sure,” Thorne agreed.
Jasmine looked to Charlene. “Mom, what do you feel like eating?”
She didn't mind dining with Jasmine, but with both of them? There was no need.
Her tone was calm but firm.
Seeing her resolve, Thorne smiled slightly and didn't press further. “Alright then.”
Jasmine's disappointment was palpable as her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Charlene hesitated, then gently stroked Jasmine's hair. “Next time, when I have some free time, we'll go out for a meal together.”
Despite Charlene's attempt to comfort her, Jasmine's spirits didn't lift much. But she wasn't as despondent as before and nodded quietly.
Feeling she had said all she could, Charlene picked up her bag to leave. Jasmine, reluctant to let her go, clutched Charlene's hand and looked up imploringly.
“Mom, can you come to my competition next month?”

Gosh, this is excruciating ! The slow pace made me leave this for over 3 months. Was just taking a peek and not much development. Btw they have now made this into a 3hr 40 min long drama.Available on daily motion under, the name, next chapter without you. But all the other fringe characters such as York Granger Gaylord are missing in the movie. Ending is very satisfying, practical and apt. She chooses to leave thorne and jasmine and be with Stewart. Vesta and family are inter national wanted Criminals. Not sure if they replicate the same on here. As this book is now on the app for more than 9 months, have a feeling it'll be another 6 to 9 months before this is completed!...
Stewart and Charlene will the best match, both power players!...
Can't wait to read where Charlene will start another relationship... God for is she gets back with Thorne... She needs to be with York or Gaylord (to annoy vesta) or granger (to annoy Thorne)...
I know its ur story and u obviously have ur own plot line and all and have every right to build the story as u like but what writer provide isnt just entertainment, but they shape the narrative of young minds. So I would say that romanticing cheating is, or rather THORNE'S behaviour, wrong for all the reasons..give york a chance ..that will be way more satisfying...again all of this is just my point of view but if charlene and thorne get back together, its not the story im looking for...
Hey...please dont ever make Charlene and thorne get back together no matter what...he simply doesn't deserve it....no matter the reason or plot twist behind the way he treated his legally wedded wife....whether he actually slept with vesta or not....just his emotional cheating...not repecting his spouse....not caring enough to actually get to know the person his wife was....and actually distancing his child from her mother and encouraging her to bond with the mistress are all the biggest RED FLAGS... when a person enters a contract....he must uphold it no questions asked...its not like if ur partner isnt good enough, ur allowed to cheat..allowed to let a 3rd person in-between....if ur not satisfied with ur partner then u can get a divorce...whats the point of all the wealth, power and brilliance of mind when the ML cant even get his head around this simple fact...So, its fine it he regrets, but charlene shouldn't be with him in any case.....
