Vesta offered a faint smile. “I wrapped things up and came straight here.”
The truth was, she hadn’t felt comfortable leaving things unsupervised. The meeting was barely halfway through when she slipped out of Neural Nexus Tech.
She knew Thorne wasn’t required to attend the meeting Charlene was leading today. Still, just as she expected, he had made a point of coming downstairs from his office to listen in.
The thought of it made her chest tighten with an odd, bitter ache. Her expression grew a bit stiff.
Thorne checked his watch. “I’ve got a video call in about ten minutes—should last at least an hour. Why don’t you come upstairs and sit with me for a bit?”
“Alright,” Vesta replied.
Later that afternoon, Vesta returned to the Hawkins family estate. Georgina spotted her first. “Back already? Didn’t you and Thorne go out for lunch?”
“He had work to finish,” Vesta replied, slipping off her shoes.
“I see.”
Feeling drained, Vesta started towards the stairs, hoping to rest. Maureen Spencer, catching sight of her weary face, asked gently, “Did something happen? You haven’t seemed yourself lately.”
Vesta paused only a beat before replying, as if nothing was amiss, “I’m fine—just tired, that’s all.”
Honestly, there had been plenty to worry about at Neural Nexus Tech. The company faced one hurdle after another, and crucial breakthroughs remained elusive. It was no wonder she felt exhausted.
Maureen seemed to understand and didn’t press further. “Let me have someone prepare you some nourishing soup. Come down and have a bite.”
By then, Janetta was home from work as well.
She greeted Vesta with a soft, “Hey, cousin.”
Vesta offered a quiet “Mm” in return and sat beside her.
As Vesta ate, Rhoda was absently cracking sunflower seeds, then suddenly remembered something. “Oh right, did you hear? The Sandersons’ daughter just had her engagement called off by the Donald family.”

Gosh, this is excruciating ! The slow pace made me leave this for over 3 months. Was just taking a peek and not much development. Btw they have now made this into a 3hr 40 min long drama.Available on daily motion under, the name, next chapter without you. But all the other fringe characters such as York Granger Gaylord are missing in the movie. Ending is very satisfying, practical and apt. She chooses to leave thorne and jasmine and be with Stewart. Vesta and family are inter national wanted Criminals. Not sure if they replicate the same on here. As this book is now on the app for more than 9 months, have a feeling it'll be another 6 to 9 months before this is completed!...
Stewart and Charlene will the best match, both power players!...
Can't wait to read where Charlene will start another relationship... God for is she gets back with Thorne... She needs to be with York or Gaylord (to annoy vesta) or granger (to annoy Thorne)...
I know its ur story and u obviously have ur own plot line and all and have every right to build the story as u like but what writer provide isnt just entertainment, but they shape the narrative of young minds. So I would say that romanticing cheating is, or rather THORNE'S behaviour, wrong for all the reasons..give york a chance ..that will be way more satisfying...again all of this is just my point of view but if charlene and thorne get back together, its not the story im looking for...
Hey...please dont ever make Charlene and thorne get back together no matter what...he simply doesn't deserve it....no matter the reason or plot twist behind the way he treated his legally wedded wife....whether he actually slept with vesta or not....just his emotional cheating...not repecting his spouse....not caring enough to actually get to know the person his wife was....and actually distancing his child from her mother and encouraging her to bond with the mistress are all the biggest RED FLAGS... when a person enters a contract....he must uphold it no questions asked...its not like if ur partner isnt good enough, ur allowed to cheat..allowed to let a 3rd person in-between....if ur not satisfied with ur partner then u can get a divorce...whats the point of all the wealth, power and brilliance of mind when the ML cant even get his head around this simple fact...So, its fine it he regrets, but charlene shouldn't be with him in any case.....
