Selina’s cheeks flushed with fury at the pointed look. Before she could speak, Dr. Helpis strode away with confident steps.

Selina forced a bright smile and casually looped her hand through Zacharias‘ arm, masking her irritation.

“Zach, did you hear that? Anne’s body is completely recovered! This is amazing. I finally don’t have to feel guilty anymore.

“Mom, Dad, and my brothers don’t need to worry either. Anne really shouldn’t have hidden this from us.”

She emphasized her words to make it seem like Anneliese had intentionally kept

the secret.

Zacharias, however, knew the truth. Anneliese had gone to the company full of hope and eagerness to share the news, only to hear a cruel reality.

The murmurs reached Zacharias. His cold gaze swept across the crowd. He quickly shrugged off his suit jacket and sprinted down to Selina, scooping her into his

arms.

Selina, cradled in Zacharias‘ arms, ached all over.

Her arms and knees were scraped, bruised dark purple, and streaked with blood. Her face was thankfully unscathed.

She bit her lip to keep from crying, while Zacharias‘ eyes reflected deep remorse,
