“Are you two really getting back together?” someone asked, disbelief in their voice.

Zacharias curved his lips in a faint smile. “Of course. Anne’s already moved back into the Sunrise Residence. How could it be anything else?”
He looked utterly convinced.
“So, you split in a flash, and now you’re remarrying in a flash. If anyone knows how to play games, it’s you, Zacharias.”
“And your birthday’s next month–are you still having Anneliese organize it at the Sunrise Residence?”
“Absolutely. Everyone will be there, and Anne and I will make sure it’s a proper celebration.”
“I’m just saying… Zacharias, you’re a tech entrepreneur and the CEO of a public company. Couldn’t you book a grand banquet hall? Anneliese grew up in an orphanage—she’s a bit… modest, I guess.”
A laugh, heavy with an unclear meaning, echoed before the video cut off.
Anneliese held her phone, chest rising and falling slightly, eyes sharp with ridicule and self- mockery.
She had spent every year personally decorating the villa, carefully planning Zacharias‘ birthday parties–yet in his and his friends‘ eyes, it was all petty and worthless.
Even though she had long stopped caring about him, seeing the man she had once loved openly belittle and humiliate her in front of his friends made her chest tighten with frustration she couldn’t release.
Just days ago, he had knelt before her, claiming his interest in Selina was only about conquest -and now he openly flirted with her, showing affection in public.
Hah. Some things never change.
At least she hadn’t believed a single word Zacharias had said.
Still, what had given him the confidence to assume reconciliation was inevitable?
Anneliese took a deep breath and called Nicole without hesitation.

Nicole answered almost instantly. “You actually got back together with Zacharias?”
Anneliese didn’t answer Nicole. She asked instead, “Are you still at the party?”
“I am.”
“Turn the speaker on. I need to say something.”

Nicole paused, glancing at Selina sitting next to Zacharias, fluttering and laughing as she casually leaned into his arms. She rolled her eyes and suddenly stood up.
She could not stand her acting so shamelessly.
The moment Nicole stood, all eyes turned toward her. She had no idea what Anneliese was about to say over the speaker, but she had a hunch it was going to be entertaining—and she was the kind of person who thrived on drama.
She shook her phone lightly and set it on the table.
By the time everyone had started to murmur in confusion, Anneliese’s voice came through, clear and sharp.
“I swear on my ex–husband’s life: if I ever take him back, may he be childless, lose all his wealth, face disaster at home, and have misfortune follow him wherever he goes. Got that?”
Zacharias hadn’t expected Anneliese’s voice to reach everyone–and he certainly hadn’t expected her to throw such words at him so brazenly, without concern for his pride.
His expression darkened, veins bulging across his forehead.
All of them went silent, stunned.
Anneliese had always seemed soft, always putting Zacharias first.
Beautiful, yes–but a beauty who always fawned lost her charm; it was dull and predictable.
No one had imagined Anneliese’s true nature could be like this.
Selina gasped. “Anne! How can you say that? You’ve moved back into the Sunrise Residence, and now you suddenly start this? Isn’t this just to make Zacharias chase after you again? You’re being so dramatic–you’re just taking advantage of him!”
“Heh… I should’ve known. It’s that fake little princess again, with her sweet talk that thinks it sprinkles charm and sunshine everywhere. Sunrise Residence is my house from the divorce- so what if I live there? Mind your own business.
