Chapter 383 The Truth Is Out
Selina fell to the ground from the slap.
She tried to lift her head and argue, but the door swung open just then.
Two police officers entered, dragging a disheveled Billy with them.

“Ms. Lawrence, we’re re–recording Mikita and Timothy’s statements about the switch. Since his parents are under interrogation, no one’s looking after him.
“We’ve brought him here since he’s part of the family,” explained an officer.
Billy’s head hung low, tears streaming down his face.
The moment he saw Selina, he broke free from the officers and ran to her.
“Selina! You’ve got to rescue Mom and Dad!
“They’ve been taken away by the police, and I’m so scared!”
Selina stiffened, trying to push him away, but Billy clung to her tightly.
Panicked, she looked to Melanie and met her mother’s cold, hate–filled eyes.
“So you knew nothing, huh?” Melanie spat.
Perseus and Christopher watched in horror.
Any last trace of hope they had in Selina had vanished.
“Turns out you knew about your identity, kept in touch with Mikita, acknowledged your biological family, and played us for fools!”
“Selina, you were born to act! Have you ever been honest with us? You tricked me into taking the blame, used me like a tool… Are you proud of yourself? You’re a great actress!”
Christopher’s eyes were red.
He suddenly lunged forward, lifting Selina off the ground by her neck.
“Ugh!”
She felt suffocated, her legs dangling as if death itself pressed down on her.

The two police officers immediately intervened, pulling Christopher back and pinning him against the wall.
He continued to glare at Selina furiously.
Christopher and Perseus finally discovered the truth–Selina had been maintaining contact with Mikita since childhood.
She knew about her real identity all along, kept it from them, and even frequently arranged for Timothy to meet up with Mikita.
During Selina’s two or three years abroad, Mikita and Billy often visited her.
Melanie, Perseus, and Christopher had supported Selina wholeheartedly while she was abroad, sending her money every month to ensure she lived well overseas.
That money also ended up benefiting Mikita and her child.
Christopher felt like vomiting.
Worse, Timothy had frequently gone abroad.
In truth, they were a close–knit family of four.
Now, with the company on the brink of collapse, he realized it was Selina’s uncle who had embezzled the funds, and most of that money had ended up in Mikita’s hands.
Christopher struggled to break free. “Let go of me!”
He barked, “We were fools for calling Anne an ungrateful brat, never realizing you were the actual ingrate in this family!”
Compared to someone like Selina, Anneliese was practically an angel.
Selina coughed violently, finally catching her breath after the officers subdued Christopher.
Melanie had seared her neck, and Christopher had choked her.
Her blisters split open, the pain so sharp she could hardly speak.
Once she steadied herself, a flicker of anger rose.
At this point, there was nothing left to salvage.
