“Didn’t you see Anneliese clinging to him? She went along on her own–so why are you making a fuss?” The reminder snapped Jessica out of it, and she looked closer.
Wow, her slim, porcelain arms slip from beneath his black suit jacket, tightening around his waist. Her fingers clutch at the back of his shirt, pale and delicate against the smooth line of his silk–clad waist- wanting, aching, more than words could ever say.
“Mmph!” She struggled to get a word out.
Zane finally loosened his grip, and Jessica snapped when she caught her breath.
“Are you kidding me? The guy already has a daughter! Let go of me!”
In a rush, Jessica grabbed his arm, ready to throw him over her shoulder.
Zane froze, eyes wide. “What the hell are you talking about? He’s never even been married and doesn’t have a single girlfriend. Where’s this daughter supposed to come from?”
Jessica whipped her head around, still fuming. “Seriously? But Annie swore his kid is grown!”
Zane let out a disbelieving laugh. “Then, she must’ve mixed it up. That man’s still a virgin. You’re giving him way too much credit.”
A virgin, huh? Well, that’s not exactly a bad thing. At least he’s cleaner than whatever Zacharias has been throwing around. No–wait! What the hell am I thinking? If Annie doesn’t snap out of it, even some untouched rookie won’t do her any good!
Jessica wanted to chase after him, but the hallway was already empty. No trace of anyone left. She shot Zane a glare. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
Zane put on an innocent expression and pointed toward the guest room. “Honestly, I think it’s better if you stay behind and deal with the mess. I spotted a camera in there. Do you really want me to check it? What if I end up seeing something I shouldn’t…”
“In
your dreams” Jessica shoved past him and bolted into the room.
He followed. The moment he stepped inside, the heavy stench of blood hit him.
On the floor lay Jameson, soaked in red.
Zane caught Jessica by the arm. “Enough. You should wait outside. I’ll handle this.”

哈
He worried the sight might be too much for her, but when he turned back, she had already slipped away.
Jameson was crouched as Jessica, sleeves rolled up, rained punches and kicks on him without hesitation. She beat him half–conscious, then out cold, then tried to bring him back again just to keep hitting.
Before she could go further, Zane pulled her back. “That’s enough. Any more and you’ll be the one facing charges.”
Jessica snapped, her voice sharp with anger. “It was that guy who did the beating, not me! Let go of me or I’ll give him a couple more for good measure.”
Zane was left speechless.
Tch. She looks all sweet and innocent–but d’mn, she’s sly to the bone.
He let go, only to watch helplessly as Jessica drove another kick straight into Jameson’s crotch.
A blood–curdling scream tore through the air.
Just then, Jonathan stepped out of the elevator with Anneliese in his arms–and ran right into Carter and Joel.
His eyes snapped to Carter, urgency all over his expression. “Take a look at her. Now.”
However, instead of moving forward, Carter edged back, retreating in quick steps. He’s gotta be kidding me. Why the hell would I step closer in a mess like this? What does he think I am–some idiot with zero sense?
“I usually deal with brains and hearts, not women. You sure you want her in my hands?” Carter asked.
Jonathan’s brow creased. “Useless.”
His gaze slid to Joel. She just lifted her hands in surrender. “Want me to book you a room instead?”
Jonathan stayed silent, but the look he gave her was akin to him saying, You’re even more useless
than he is.
The woman in his arms seemed to lose what little self–control she had left. She writhed against him, tugging at his shirt, her hands slipping under the fabric to press against his skin.

Her palms were soft and feverish, trailing down his back. Sparks seemed to catch where she
touched.
Jonathan’s jaw tightened. He strode out, though his steps lacked their usual composure.
