After becoming fully awake, Andrew stared at Melina, who sat on his waist. She grabbed her shirt with one hand and clenched the other into a fist.
A headache immediately struck him. Since he just woke up, his voice was raspy and deep. "Let go."
Seeing Andrew finally speak and loosen his grip on her neck, Melina puffed up her cheeks like an angry squirrel. "You let go of my throat first."
He let go of her and noticed the bruises on her neck. His eyes flickered as he muttered, "Who said you could come in?"
Feeling oddly nervous, Melina explained, "I noticed you hadn't woken up at this hour, so I thought you'd fainted. I was worried something might have happened, so I came in to check."
After saying that, Melina felt even more diffident. Before she had entered, Andrew had been sleeping just soundly. Everything had been perfectly fine.
After she showed up, his handsome face had a bruise, and there was blood at the corner of his mouth.
Melina searched for words to somehow fix the situation.
Andrew could feel Melina's feverish warmth even through the clothes as she sat on his waist. He looked visibly upset. "How long do you plan to sit on me?"
The rich heiresses in Cyntia used to ponder what kind of person or situation could ever make the cold-hearted Andrew show his true feelings. If Melina had joined the conversation, she'd probably suggest punching Andrew.
Just then, Melina realized she was still on top of Andrew and quickly rolled to the side.
It felt like she had done nothing wrong, but it somehow didn't seem like she was in the right. She entered his room, went up to his bed, and hit him.
However, when Melina felt her life was endangered, her immediate reaction was to fight back. Andrew grabbed her by the throat first, and she just reacted in reflex.
No matter how much she tried to justify it in her mind, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was at fault here. So, she sincerely apologized, "I'm sorry, Andrew. I shouldn't have entered your room without your consent."
With that, Melina bolted out of Andrew's room. When she came downstairs, she let out a long sigh.
He didn't like her to begin with. On their second day as newlyweds, she'd already hit him. She had no idea if they could ever get along from here.
…
Inside the bedroom, Andrew wiped the blood off the corner of his mouth. A flicker of emotion stirred in his calm, deep eyes.
