Johnson gave her a look, said nothing, and turned to leave. Deep inside, though, his unease only grew stronger.

Quickly, he dialed another number.

“Have the men at the airport reported back yet? I need an update.”

“I’m sorry, Dr. Johnson. None of the men we sent to the airport have returned.”

Johnson’s face immediately changed.
