Waylon’s voice turned cold. “My name is Waylon; I’m the owner here. Step aside.”

The guard, however, showed no trace of respect or fear. Instead, he burst into loud laughter.
“You? Do you even know who Waylon is? Let me tell you something–this is the Stone residence, but Mr. Waylon hasn’t been in the country for years! If you’re going to impersonate our Mr. Waylon, at least do your homework first. Now get out before I stop being polite!”
As he spoke, he reached out, trying to shove Waylon back.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Natalie smacked his hand away before he could touch her father, pulling Waylon protectively to her side.
“Your job is to check everyone who comes in and out—fine. But since we’ve already given our names, shouldn’t you verify our identities before laying a hand on us?”
Her tone was icy, her expression sharp. The guard’s face flushed with anger; being struck by a woman was humiliation enough.
“Where did this crazy woman come from? You think you can hit me? Whether I verify anything or not is none of your damn business! I’m telling you right now–you’re not getting in. What are you gonna do about it?”
The guard planted himself in front of Natalie, puffed up with arrogance, even pulling out a stun baton from his side.
“See this? If you don’t leave right now, don’t blame me for using it. This is private property–if I kill you, it’s just procedure.”
“Oh, really?” Waylon’s voice dropped to a chilling calm. “I didn’t realize the Stone residence had gotten to the point where a guard dog gets to make the decisions.”
Rage surged in him. He’d been away for just over twenty years, and now he couldn’t even walk into his own home? Even if the guard was new, shouldn’t the Stone family’s standards for hiring be higher than this? What kind of trash did they let in here?
The guard, hearing himself called a dog, exploded with fury.
“Old man, did you just call me a dog? Let me teach you something- even the Stone family’s watchdog isn’t someone you can insult!”

He swung the baton straight toward Waylon’s head.

Waylon’s temper snapped. He’d paid the salaries here every year, kept the estate running–and now his own guard dared to turn on him? Unbelievable.
He was about to kick the guard when someone moved faster.
Baron’s foot shot out, catching the man squarely in the chest.
The guard hadn’t expected much resistance; he thought he was just facing an old man and his family. But Baron’s kick carried real force–it sent him flying back, crashing into the guard booth with a loud thud.
The man howled in pain.
“Agh! You scumbag! You’re dead! You hear me? You’re not leaving here alive!”
He snatched up his walkie–talkie and shouted into it, voice shaking with rage.
“Captain! There’s trouble at the gate! I’ve been attacked–get down here, now!”
Natalie’s stomach tightened. “Dad, maybe we should go for now. If reinforcements show up. the three of us might not be able to handle them.”
She glanced at Baron–he was still injured.
Waylon patted her hand, then gently pushed her toward Baron. “Keep Natalie safe.”
His eyes burned with fury, flames of outrage flickering behind them.
Baron wanted to call for his own people, but when he saw Waylon’s expression, he realized the man probably had a plan. He nodded.
The Stone family’s affairs were their own. Baron wouldn’t interfere–unless Natalie was threatened. Still, he made a precautionary call to Westin.
“Send our people to this location. I want them here within five minutes.”
Westin saw the coordinates and immediately dispatched the nearest team.
Natalie’s anxiety eased slightly after hearing that.
Baron pulled her closer and whispered, “Don’t worry. Dad wouldn’t come here alone. Yvonne’s a Stone, too–there’s no way he’d come without backup.”
