Chapter 3

After arriving at the barbecue restaurant, the three of them went in first.

When I parked the car and went inside, I found only three sets of cutlery on the table.

Jaqueline looked a bit embarrassed as she was about to wave her hand and call the waiter for an extra set of

cutlery.

Jenny, who was standing aside, suddenly cried out, “I don’t want to have dinner with the strange uncle! Dad

said he wants to take my mom away!”

“I didn’t want…”

Jaxson quickly covered her mouth and looked at me apologetically.

“Jagger was outspoken as a child, don’t mind him.”

Jaqueline held Jenny in her arms and gently comforted her.

The look in their eyes seemed as if I had done something.

I chuckled and looked at Jenny, saying, “Child… your mother will always be your mother, I won’t take her

away.”

My words made Jaqueline’s expression suddenly change.

Before she spoke, I turned and sat down at the table in the corner.

A person had a barbecue meal.

The laughter from nearby kept reaching my ears.

It seemed to have no effect on my enthusiasm for eating barbecue.

On my way home after having eaten, I received a call from Jaqueline.

“Jagger, where were you? We have finished eating, wait for us in the parking lot.”

Listening to her tone of taking things for granted.

I couldn’t understand how low I was in her heart.

“I was already at the doorstep!” I said calmly.

My words immediately angered Jaqueline.

“What do you mean, Jagger? Why did you leave first when we were supposed to go out together?”

I said calmly, “Weren’t you going to watch a movie?”

As soon as I said this, Jaqueline’s next words were stuck in her throat.

Even before leaving the barbecue restaurant, I saw Jaxson posting on Twitter.

“The movie that Jenny had always wanted to go see with her parents has finally become a reality.”

The picture shows a group photo of the three of them.

A friend commented below, “You two are finally together! Congratulations, congratulations!”

Jaxson replied with a shy expression.

After a few seconds of silence, Jaqueline cleared her throat and said, “We could go watch a movie together, didn’t you say I haven’t watched a movie with you before?”

I smiled and said without hesitation, “No need, you guys enjoy watching.”

After saying that, I hung up the phone.

Completely disregarding Jacqueline’s reaction over there.

When I got back home, I just received a notification from the company.

They said that my application to return to my home country has been approved and asked me to handle

things here as soon as possible and go back.

This is the first good news I received in these days.

When Jaqueline came back, I was organizing the handover work documents.

She was still angry about my attitude on the phone just now.

I directly took my clothes for washing and went to freshen up.

When she came out after washing up, I was already lying in bed, ready to sleep.

Jaqueline stood at the bedside and stared at me intently.

The scorching gaze, I could feel it even with my eyes closed.

I was feeling annoyed from being watched when the phone rang.

“Jagger! Isn’t today your birthday? I brought some benefits from the company for you!”

The manager’s loud voice was particularly clear in the pitch–black night.
