A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 235

Even the dean of their college called him.

“Um, Tyson… I mean, Mr. Goodwin,” the dean began, his tone awkward. “There's been a slight change to the schedule for our freshman orientation ceremony. We… we won't be needing your speech after all.”

Just a short while ago, the dean had called to invite him to speak as a distinguished alumni representative. Tyson had accepted. Now, the invitation was suddenly revoked.

A change in schedule, my ass, Tyson thought bitterly. The university administration had obviously heard about the scandal and decided he was a liability.

He couldn't exactly grovel to be allowed to speak, so he kept his voice level. “I understand.”

He hung up without another word.

Taking a deep breath, he told himself to ignore them. He was Mr. Goodwin of Goodwin Enterprises. He didn't need to lower himself to their level. Besides, he had bigger things to worry about, like running his company and taking down Elvis.

Once Winona was back by his side, he could explain it all away as a misunderstanding. She would help him clear his name.

Tyson pushed his emotions aside and headed for the hospital. He hadn't been able to reach Jude Quincy, but one of Jude's men had finally answered this morning and told him Jude had been injured and hospitalized. He had to check on his partner.

When he arrived at Jude's room, however, he was met with a frosty reception. Then again, Jude's moods were notoriously unpredictable, so Tyson didn't think much of it. He set down the gift basket he'd brought. “Young Master Quincy, are you feeling any better?”

“What do you think?” Jude sneered. “How about I let you get injured this badly and see how you feel?”
