What was he angry about?
“A reason? Fine. The reason is I've decided you're a piece of worthless trash. Got it?” Jude said, his patience gone. “Now get out!”
The moment the words left his mouth, the bodyguards seized Tyson and shoved him toward the door.
Tyson stumbled out of the room, his face ashen.
Jude had turned on him, and Jackson Quincy clearly despised him. Was his connection to the Quincy family completely severed? How was he supposed to find another ally to fight Elvis? How was he going to win Winona back?
He walked out of the hospital in a daze. The second he got into his car, his phone rang. It was a senior executive from his company.
“Mr. Goodwin, we have a problem!” the executive said, his voice frantic. “The Crestone Region project has been shut down!”
“What? What happened?” Tyson's face drained of color.
That project was critical for Goodwin Enterprises. Construction had only started two days ago. How could it be halted already?
“We just got word from the authorities. They're citing serious environmental and safety violations. They've ordered a full review and mandated a work stoppage for at least two weeks!”
A project of that scale would lose hundreds of thousands of dollars a day. The longer the delay, the greater the losses. And who knew what other issues would magically appear after two weeks? There was no telling when they'd be able to resume work.
Tyson's vision swam. The executive was still on the line, asking what to do, but Tyson was so panicked he could barely form a sentence.
Lately, he'd been under constant attack from both the Thorne Group and Rogers Corporation, losing one reliable partner and project after another. Goodwin Enterprises had only managed to stay afloat because of its strong foundation. Now, this critical project was frozen. He had no idea what to do.
He gritted his teeth, his eyes turning bloodshot.
