Chapter 1 The Lost Heiress
The ground was wet.
Criford had been raining all day.
With disdain, the butler flung Annelise Caldwell’s backpack out the door.
“Ms. Caldwell, Mr. Whitman does not wish to see you. I’ll deliver his message. Your biological parents are the Caldwells, and they live in the sticks. The Whitmans had brought home the wrong daughter. Now that Ms. Juliette Whitman has returned, you should go back to where you belong and stop reaching out to the Whitman family.”
The butler produced a bank card as he spoke. “There are 1,600 dollars on it. A compensation
from Mr. Whitman.”
“That won’t be necessary.”
Annelise hefted her black backpack without sparing the card a glance.
Irritated, the butler rolled his eyes, unable to believe she still had the nerve to put on airs.

“Suit yourself then!” The butler slammed the door shut.
Annelise ignored him. Carrying only a backpack, she walked out of the mansion. Her silhouette was tall and graceful.
She came as she was, and left the same.

Meanwhile.
At a courtyard in Brookford, the Caldwells were having a family meeting.
Antonio Caldwell sat at the top, holding a cane. His presence exuded authority.
“After all these years, you still haven’t found a single trace of your sister?”
He questioned his six grandsons.
The Caldwell family was the wealthiest in Brookford, and the six Caldwell brothers were a cut above the rest.
Each one stood unrivaled in their respective fields.
But today, they all looked deflated, their eyes clouded with longing and sorrow.
It was their fault that Ana Caldwell had been lost.
Back then, she was just a baby, cute as a button, never crying or making a fuss.
They had searched for her for eighteen years, but the trail had gone cold in a small village They didn’t know how many times the traffickers had moved her.
“Grandpa, we’ll keep looking. We’ll find Ana!”
