After knowing Who She Is They Kneeled novel Chapter 57

Chapter 57

The newcomer was dressed stylishly, with fair skin and striking features. He had red headphones hanging around his neck, looking less like a doctor and more like a rapper.

He plopped down next to Annelise, still grumbling, “My old man always gives me these kinds of jobs. Taking care of an old friend’s granddaughter. Do I look like the type to take care of people?”

As he spoke, he looked Annelise up and down, his gaze sharp. “Little sis, you really made a splash. You’ve got some nerve, claiming a background like that.”

Annelise stared at his face for a long moment, a knowing look in her eyes. “Leo?”

The Pennington family’s young master’s eyes widened. Wait, the way this girl said his name… why did it sound so much like his Boss?

An illusion. It must be an illusion!

Leo checked his phone. The Boss hadn’t said anything about coming to the seminar. The chat screen still showed the message declining the job.

He knew it. How could his brilliant and powerful Boss be a little girl younger than him?

He must have been too tired from studying lately. His brain was short-circuiting!

Leo shook his head and made a “shushing” gesture at Annelise. “Keep it down, little sis.

randma Whitman should have told you before you came. Don’t mention her, just stick with me and… uh, no, I mean, learn from the experts as they treat patients with me.”

Annelise watched his act with a casual air.

Leo still hadn’t registered the message in her eyes.

The two young men behind him came over.

“Leo, who’s this?”

The one who spoke was the Young Clan’s grandson, Joel Baker.

Leo shrugged. “A little sister of mine.”

Joel looked Annelise over for a moment. “She’s pretty cute.”

Annelise raised an eyebrow. “Thanks.”

The other young man pushed him aside and said to Annelise, “Hey there. Let me introduce myself, I’m Bradford Davis.

What’s your sign?

Do you usually like clubbing or libraries? I’m good with either.”

“You two, back off!”

Leo grabbed his two friends with both hands. “Keep a low profile!

Can’t you see everyone’s staring at us?”

Joel didn’t care. “So what? This seminar is full of old fossils. I can’t even identify a single herbal remedy. I have no idea why my grandpa brought a good-for-nothing like me here.”

“Exactly. It’s boring as hell.”

Bradford winked at Annelise. “Hey, how about I read your palm for you? The Davis Clan is pretty famous for calcu- lating metaphysical fortune.”

Annelise had heard of them before-Southern City’s old money families’ ‘Rich Kid’ Clique. Clubbing, street racing, completely unscholarly, they had become a joke in the entire medical community.

Seeing them in person now, she was a little surprised by their sincerity. It was rare to see people who could so readily admit they were good-for-nothings…

Juliette also noticed the commotion and whispered in Rosalie’s ear, “Teacher, it looks like the Penningtons, the Youngs, and the Davises are on good terms with that person. It seems like they’re planning to help her.”

“Just a bunch of useless rich kids who will never amount to anything.”

Rosalie patted Juliette’s hand and pointed out in a low voice, “The Young Clan, the Davis Clan… the truly promising members of these two families are sitting right here with us. See that one drinking tea, Coleman Baker? He’s a cardi- ologist.

And you know the best-looking one from the Davis Clan, Naomi Davis. I hear she’s interested in you…’

Juliette lowered her eyes shyly. “Teacher, even you’re teasing me. Naomi and I are just classmates.”

“Has that classmate been staring at you since you walked in?”
