She didn’t want to live her darkest memory again. It was different from when she was in heat. This time, she was sober, and she didn’t want to be touched this way by him. She didn’t want to be hurt again. She had enough people hurting her, she didn’t want her mate to be one of them as well.

“No… please…” Rania cried. Panic rose in her throat when Maximus’s fingers wrapped around her neck, as if he was going to strangle her.

It reminded her of what Caden always did. He liked it to see the fear in her eyes. Caden liked the pain, agony, and terror that he inflicted on her. Those things aroused him.

However, the different thing with Maximus that Rania couldn’t perceive was; the king didn’t seem to enjoy the fear of his mate.

He enjoyed inflicted the fear on his enemy, hell, he basked in his enemy pain, and blood.

But, for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to do it when he saw Rania hyperventilating when he wrapped his arms around her slender neck.

She didn’t think that he was seriously going to strangle her to death, right? Yet, the horror in her eyes made Maximus stopped himself.

Part of him wanted to go through with it, forcing himself to her, the way she liked it. Yet, some part of him couldn’t stand the sight of her like that.

First, he loosened his grip on her hands, and then let go of her neck, she immediately flipped her body and bent down, as she breathed greedily. Her whole body was shaking.

She was not feigning her fear. She was genuinely scared.

But then, how she could enjoy doing it with Caden, but not with him? What was in her mind? If he could, he really wanted to see what she was thinking. What actually happened with her?

Rania was heaving, her breathing was labor, and her face turned very red, as she kept shaking. Her dress had been ripped open.

Maximus didn’t know what to do, and for the first time, he felt the pain in his chest to see how his mate was breathing so hard.

He zipped up his pants, and took off his clothes, which made Rania panic again, as she pushed him away. She wanted him to die. She was going to kill him!

Whether this was about war or something else, the world would be a better place without him. She was going to kill him in his sleep!

There was no need for the poison, she was going to cut his throat. She was going to give the whole bottle of poison dawn his throat!

Yet, the king didn’t seem to feel any pain at all, as he kept holding her gently. He let her bite him down, even though, her teeth tore his skin. He was bleeding now, since Rania used all of her strength to hurt him.

He didn’t yell at her, even though blood ran down his arm, and smeared Rania’s mouth, he kept rocking her back and forth without saying anything. He didn’t even flinch when Rania scratched his face, his neck, or any part of his body that she could reach.

He knew that she couldn’t shift into her beast, therefore it was pretty safe for Maximus to assume, she wouldn’t be able to claw his throat opened, or else, he was going to die.

On the other hand, Rania wished, she could shift into her beast, or at least, she could shift her nail into those razor sharp claws, and then killed the king right there and then.

She couldn’t care less about acknowledgment from other people, who were against the king related the war. She wanted to kill him not for those noble reasons. She wanted to kill him because he hurt her, just like how she wished she had a chance to kill Caden.

Yet, there was no damage that had been done, the king’s healing ability was crazy. He didn’t even have any sign of injury once Rania stopped, even the bleeding in his arm. The wound had closed in, and his skin was as pristine as usual.

Rania hated it.

“Let me go!” She screamed. Finaly, she got her voice back, and she used it to yell at him. This was almost the same like the previous night when she asked Maximus to kill her.

How crazy it was that she was going through so many emotions in the last twenty four hours. From wanting to kill herself, to wanting to kill the king. It was insane.

In the end, when Rania had nothing left, her body limp against Maximus’s chest. She didn’t have any strength
