Chapter 47

The bottle was cold in her hand, but for some reason, the small thing burned her skin. This was the slow acting poison that her father had given her.

Rania wondered, how long it would take for the poison to finally kill the king. Would it take a month? Two months? A year?

How prepared those people to dethrone the king? She wondered about a lot of things, but in the end, her only problem was one; she wanted to kill Maximus for what he put her through.

She would be very thankful if he left her alone, but he always came back, and put her through the pain. He was the same like Caden.

And probably, even though the chance for it was very slim to none, one day, Rania would have a chance to kill Caden too.

But this, she would take care of the king first.

Rania twisted her body, and then looked at the king, who was still sleeping beside her. She hid the bottle in the same pocket. She would find a chance to give him a drop or two, so she could speed things up. She couldn’t care less about the war.

The world will be better without him.

That was what Rania told her herself when she looked at the king. His brows furrowed, as if even in his sleep, he had trouble. The nightmare must be hunting him down. Good. Rania wondered what kind of nightmare he had. She wished, it was horrendous.

No, don’t kill her

At first, Rania didn’t understand the word that the king mumbled, but he kept repeating the same words over and over again with this distressed look on his face.

Nodon’t. It’s not her fault. Stay away from her

Rania frowned. Who is she? Rania listened to him, as he mumbled the same thing. Sometime, he would say different thing, but Rania couldn’t catch up the word he said.

Don’t touch EllaNot her

Ella? Rania wondered, who she was.

And as time went by, Maximus became visibly more distress. He gritted his teeth, and his grip on her body became rather painful, which made Rania winched.

The king grew restless, as if he was fighting the demon in his sleep.

When the king seemed not to realize that he was hurting her, Rania tried to wake him up. She shook his body, and called him.

Chapter 47

Wake up, it’s just a dream.” She saw layer of sweat on his forehead, and he looked pale. My king, wake up.”

However, all of sudden Maximus grabbed her hand, and flipped her body over, his claws elongated. He was only a breath away from ripping her throat apart.

His eyes filled with malice, as an animalistic growl came from his throat. A dangerous look on his face letting Rania knew that he had every intention to kill her.

He was going to kill her, and that was what Rania believed. Murderous intention was very strong, his whole body emanated anger, and vengeance.

Everything was a blur. Rania could die without him knowing what was going on, since his claws already pressed against his skin, and blood oozed out from the wound.

But thankfully, before the wound got deeper, which would be a fatal for her, Maximus regained his consciousness, and stopped himself in time before he cut her head clean.

He looked confused for a second, and then shocked crept in when he realized what he was going to do. Immediately, he jumped away from her. Drew away his sharp razor claws from her bleeding neck.

Without a second thought, Rania quickly sat down, and covered her neck with her hand, she could feel the sticky liquid that was her blood, and this made her hyperventilate a little. When she withdrew her hand, she could see the blood on it.

She didn’t scream, because the shock was still there. She didn’t even feel the pain yet.

Meanwhile, Maximus shook his head, as if he wanted to clear his mind, since he didn’t believe with what he was seeing right now. He furrowed his brows, as if he was thinking whether this was another dream of his.

Yet, a second later when the cloud in his head was cleared, he could see what he had done to his mate. He cursed under his breath, and came towards Rania with stern look on his face.

Rania widened her eyes in fear. Her first instinct told to flee, but the king didn’t let her, he grabbed her by the waist, and then put his other arm under her knees. Maximus carried her out of the bedroom. Blood was still dripping from the wound, since Rania didn’t have any healing ability, which made her fragile.

She could die from blood lost at this point.

Maximus was running along the corridor, and a few guards were alarmed when they saw the blood trailed down on the floor.

Lula!Maximus shouted the healer’s name, as he laid Rania down on the bed. Come here!

Lula came immediately, and saw what happened. She was shocked. What happened?Despite the question, she immediately worked on Rania’s wounded neck.

She stopped the bleeding first, because Rania’s face looked very pale. She stared at Lula with fear in her eyes, but she didn’t make a single noise.

She lay on the bed like a wood, and when Lula started to work on her wound, she stared at the ceiling without any expression, as if she was only laying there, and was about to sleep.
