Chapter189
“I really do feel a bit unwell.”
Joaquin’s voice was much lower, sounding somewhat weak.
Only then did Romina notice that his eyes were extremely red.
She quickly stepped forward, pulled out a chair and sat down, then began to check his pulse.
It wasn’t until she touched his pulse that she realized his body temperature was burning hot.
“You have a fever? When did you start feeling unwell? Weren’t you fine when we got back from Riverchester yesterday?”
Romina looked into his eyes, a little surprised.
Joaquin said softly, “I probably didn’t get enough rest. Since the night you I’ve only slept a few hours…‘

“Where did you go last night?” Romina asked with concern. “Were you dealing with project issues?”
“Yes, there was a problem with the project yesterday. It wasn’t resolved until five in the morning. I dozed off in the office for a bit, and woke up like this.”
“Go take a shower first. I’ll go home for a bit, then head to the wellness clinic to get you some medicine.”
Romina had just stood up when the man reached out with his slender fingers and grabbed her wrist.
Romina’s steps were forced to a halt.
Joaquin looked up at her, his expression serious as he asked, “Can you stay and take care of me tonight? I don’t feel very well…”
He held her hand, a look of hope flickering in his eyes.
After hesitating for a moment, she finally nodded. “Alright.”

“I’ll have the driver take you. The real culprit hasn’t been found yet. Even if you’re back in Straland, you’re still in danger.”
The man looked at her with a trace of concern in his eyes.
Romina replied calmly, “I’ll do as you say.”
Only then did Joaquin release her hand, watching as she left.
Romina went home first. It happened to be the weekend, and Elliana was at home resting, playing blocks with Lina.
When Lina saw Romina, she quickly got up and ran toward her. “Auntie Romina, you’re finally back! I missed you so much.”
Romina couldn’t help but smile, crouching down to hug her. “I missed you too, Lina. While Auntie was away, did you eat and sleep well?”
“Of course! Auntie Elliana told me stories every day, and I slept really well.”
“That’s good.”
After Lina went back to playing with her blocks, Elliana came over and lowered her voice to ask, “Did you notice anything unusual on your way back? Was anyone following you?”
“No, everything was peaceful,” Romina replied softly. “Things got so out of hand in Riverchester, I doubt they’ll make any moves again in the short term.”
“Be careful when you go out from now on,” Elliana reminded her. “Maybe you shouldn’t go to the wellness clinic today.”
Romina paused for a moment, then said calmly, “I still have to go, and I might not come back tonight.”
“Not coming back? Where are you going?”
“Joaquin has a high fever. I need to bring him some medicine and probably stay to take care of him tonight.”
