chapter43
Erick responded in a low voice, “Understood, Mr. Bowman. I’ll
take care of it right away.”
Joaquin was the first to hang up, his face extremely grim.
“Grandpa, are you really feeling better now?”
As he walked in, he heard Jericho’s serious questioning voice by
his ear. When Jericho saw him enter, he softly called out
Joaquin’s name, then shifted his gaze to Hayden.
“I do feel much better.” Hayden pointed toward the door. “If
there’s nothing else, you two should head back first. I have
something to discuss with Joaquin.”
“Alright.”
After Jericho led Nadine out, he closed the door behind them.
Joaquin pulled out a chair and sat by the bedside. “How are you
feeling? Are you really much better?”
Hayden didn’t answer his question, but instead gave a faint
smile. “Actually, I was only in a light sleep just now, not fully
asleep. I heard some of your conversation outside the ward.
Thank you for standing up for Romi…”
“Why do you trust her so much? This isn’t the first time she’s
done physical therapy for you, is it?”
Joaquin lifted his clear eyes, gazing at his father in front of him,
his voice deep.
His father had always been someone who valued his health. At
such a critical moment, if he didn’t have enough trust, how
could he possibly let her perform physical therapy on him so
rashly?
Hayden spoke slowly, “Romi did physical therapy for me many
years ago as well. That incident was even more serious than
this time, but she managed to get me back on my feet with her
therapy”
Joaquin frowned slightly. “How come I never knew about this?”
“Not only did you not know, even Jericho didn’t know. It was a
sudden accident, very urgent, and Romina happened to pass by
and saved me. Otherwise, I might not have made it.” Hayden’s
smile deepened. “I only told Jericho about it later, and I guess he
never mentioned it to you.”
At the time, Joaquin was handling overseas projects, busy to
the point of exhaustion every day. Hayden didn’t want to distract him, and since his condition improved, he chose not to
tell him.
“That girl has saved my life more than once.” Hayden sighed.
“It’s a pity Jericho doesn’t know how lucky he is. His wife is so
outstanding, yet he doesn’t cherish her and insists on getting
involved with an actress!”
Afraid that his father would get worked up and affect his
health, Joaquin quickly interrupted, “Alright, didn’t you say
you had something to tell me?”
“Actually, I wanted to say that you’re more mature and capable
than Jericho. If that boy ever bullies Romi in the future, as her
uncle, you should keep an eye on things. There are many things
they don’t want to tell me…”
As his voice faded, the man suddenly let out a low, hoarse
laugh.
Hayden asked in confusion, “What are you laughing at?”
“Don’t worry. Ms. Sandoval is much tougher than you think.”
Joaquin replied earnestly, “If those two ever go head-to-head,
Jericho might not be her match.”
Hayden muttered, “You talk as if you know her so well!”
“I wouldn’t say I know her, but after meeting so many people, I
can tell she’s no ordinary woman.”
“In terms of medical skills, she’s indeed quite impressive.”
Joaquin lifted his clear eyes. When he saw the look of relief in
Hayden’s gaze, he felt an inexplicable heaviness in his heart.
What happened today had once again changed his perception
of that woman.
Everyone in the Bowman family said she was delicate and only
good for cooking and household chores.
