Bound By Moonlight to My Mates (by Sofange Daye) novel Chapter 13

Alpha Ronan

Alpha Luca stands at the edge of his territory with warriors flanking him on both sides. Somehow, he knew I was coming, but that doesn’t matter. He has something that belongs to me, and I am here to retrieve it.

Plastering a fake smile on my lips, I step from my vehicle. Alpha Luca,I try to sound cheerful. It has been too long.

Luca isn’t buying my act. I should have known better. The Southpaw Pack might be small, but Alpha Luca is not a fool. There is a reason he is allied with more packs than any other Alpha, and that is because he knows how to play the game.

Cut the shit, Ronan,he growls. Why are you here?

I try to roll the tension from my shoulders. You have a member of my pack, and I am here to bring her home.”

Luca looks me up and down. I do not have a member of your pack.”

Thorne is growling in my mind, demanding that I find Charlotte: He has been this way for two weeks, and now that he can sense she is close by, he is beginning to lose control.

There was amisunderstanding,I continue. Her mother is heartbroken without her. I am only looking out for my pack members. I promise to keep Charlotte safe.

Luca laughs sarcastically. You don’t give a shit about anyone but yourself. Go home, Ronan.

I growl in the older Alpha’s direction. Are you willing to go to war over this?

Luca returns my anger. You have no grounds for war, unless you want to alienate yourself from the other packs more than you already have.

He has a point. While I have the biggest pack, I don’t have the allies that he does. Alpha Luca is trusted and respected. I would be a fool to pick a battle with him.

Perhaps we can discuss this civilly,I force a smile. Alpha to Alpha.”

His lips are pursed together, accentuating the wrinkles around his mouth. You have one hour.

I am forced to leave my car at the gates as I am escorted to the Southpaw Pack house. I have always loved this pack house. It holds so much history. When the massive wooden door opens, Charlotte’s scent swarms in the air.

I can no longer control Thorne, and a growl rumbles in my chest. She is here.”

Pushing past the warriors, I charge into the pack house, following her scent up the stairs. I stand outside the room, which is surely hers, for a second before barging in. Disappointment washes over me when I see that she isn’t here, but that doesn’t stop me from tearing her room apart. I have no idea what I am looking for, but I can only hope I will know what it is when I find it.

What are you doing?Alpha Luca snarls. You can’t barge into my pack house like this.”

I turn my anger onto him. You said you didn’t have a member of my pack, yet her scent is all over this room.

Alpha Luca stands his ground. She is a rogue we have offered shelter to. She is no longer a member of your pack.

Fuck you, Luca,I scream. You will return her.”

I storm into the closet, following where her scent is the strongest. I can hear warriors running up the stairs to stop me, but I don’t care. In the back of the closet, a wooden box is hidden beneath a tattered suitcase. It hums with a heartbeat as I pull it

from its hiding space. This is what I was looking for. It has to be the key to understanding who Charlotte is.

I keep the box tucked under my arm as I exit the closet. Alpha Luca and his warriors are waiting for me.

This is all I need,I lie. Charlotte stole this from her mother, and I only wish to return it.

Alpha Luca growls angrily. If that truly belongs to Charlotte’s mother, she is more than welcome to retrieve it herself.

I clutch the box close like it is my lifeline. Her mother is ill.”

Alpha Luca smirks at my admission. She is losing her mind, isn’t she?

What do you know?

He laughs, reaching for the box. More than you.

Reluctantly, I hand the box over. I might be able to take on several of the warriors, but I am on my own. More will come, and eventually they will overpower me.

Luca holds the box as if it were a bomb threatening to detonate. You are smarter than you look.”

Where is Charlotte?I demand to know. I want to speak with her,
