Bound By Moonlight to My Mates (by Sofange Daye) novel Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Only Theo and Leah have been permitted to visit me. Leah has barely left my side, and I get the feeling that she is using me as an excuse to avoid responsibilities within the pack. I don’t mind, though. I have never had a friend my age before.

Leah,Theo’s deep voice breaks apart our giggles. I need to examine Charlotte’s arm.”

Leah gives me a longing look before slipping from the room. She might have a smart mouth when it comes to everyone else, but she won’t defy Theo. He frightens her. Actually, I think I might be the only person who isn’t scared of him.

He locks the door behind her, like he always does, and slips to my bedside. He doesn’t speak while he unwraps the bandage from my arm, just hums comforting under his breath. It helps because I can’t bring myself to look at my arm. I looked at it the first time and almost vomited all over him. Now, I keep my eyes focused on the wall ahead while he works. Usually, I let him heal my skin in silence, but today I am curious.

What am I?

The black orbs that are his eyes trail up my arm and lock onto mine. You are a werewolf.”

I know that,” I groan. But why is everyone acting so weird around me? I think you know. Actually, I think everyone but me knows.

You should ask your wolf,he says as his cold hands lock onto my wrist.

Theo turns his attention away from me, muttering an ancient language beneath his breath. Instead of looking at the wall today, I look at his face. His eyebrows are knitted together as he focuses his power on my arm, and I find myself holding my

breath.

This man is dangerously beautiful. I have heard about certain demons that take advantage of women while they sleep, and I wonder if he has ever taken part in that sort of activity. Though I can’t say that I would mind if he took advantage of me. Just the thought of him between my legs is enough to raise my heart rate.

The corner of his mouth tugs up in a smirk, and I wonder if he can read my thoughts. That idea alone is enough to make me blush and tear my eyes away from his beautiful face.

The cold grasp of his hands leaves my arm, and I let out a sigh. Why does his touch affect me so much?

We don’t need to rewrap it,he says as he gets to his feet.

Please do,” I beg. I don’t think I can stomach the sight of it.”

Theo chuckles. I know it looks different from what you are used to, but I think I have done a pretty good job.”

I swallow. It doesn’t look like meat anymore?

Theo’s eyes graze over my body, not once looking at my arm. No. It doesn’t.

Slowly, I turn my head to look at my arm and marvel at what Theo has done. He was right. It isn’t what I was used to seeing. but the intricate lines that cover my skin are nothing less than a work of art. I twist my arm from side to side, looking at the skin he has created for me. For the first time in days, I flex my fingers and find that all of the tightness and pain are gone.

Thank you,I whisper.

This is farewell, then,he says, turning toward the door.

Wait,I call after him. I won’t see you again.

No, Little Cricket,he frowns. It would be better if we didn’t see each other again.

Little Cricket?I scoff at the nickname. Why did you call me that?

Theo steps a little closer, his body evading my space. It makes my skin itch and my body desperate for his touch.

Because you are always making noise,he teases me. And you rub your feet together while you sleep. Like a cricket.”

I wrinkle my nose at him. Why were you in here while I was sleeping?

He tilts my head up with two of his fingers, and my lips part on instinct. I needed to keep you safe.

My tongue darts out, licking my bottom lip, and Theo lowers himself onto the bed. His body is too close, and it feels like it is consuming all the air in the room.

“You watched me sleep?I breathe out.

He lowers his hand, resting it on the pillow beside my head. And I watched your dreams.

My mouth falls open, and I know he heard my thoughts about demons taking advantage of women in their sleep. My face heats, and I am positive I have turned a brilliant shade of red. He leans in closer, and his breath fans against my lips.

You are trouble,he whispers.

I do my best to steady my racing heart. I am not the demon. You are.”
