Bound By Moonlight to My Mates (by Sofange Daye) novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Jake

The moment I cross Blackthorn’s border, my wolf, Storm, surges forward, snapping at my control. He’s been restless since the second Charlotte’s scent disappeared from Southpaw. That restlessness turned into violence when she didn’t return. My once neat and tidy room in the pack house is in ruin, and Alpha Luca could only shake his head in his appointment.

She is with Lucian,he sighed. At the Blackthorn Pack.”

Storm raged, and he almost attacked our Alpha. I managed to keep him controlled, but his constant clawing at the edges of my mind forced me from my pack to hunt her down.

Now he’s a constant storm in my chest, demanding one thing. Find her.

I grip the steering wheel tighter, knuckles white. I am a fucking Beta. My status alone should keep me calm and collected. I have worked since I was sixteen to maintain control over him. When he first awoke, he was wild, just as he is now, but over the years, we have grown to understand one another.

Until Charlotte entered our lives.

The moment the bond snapped into place, his feral side surfaced once again. He cares nothing for the rank we worked so hard to earn. He only wants her, howling constantly in my mind, reminding me that she is too far. His need for her is so strong that I worry he will mark her as soon as he sees her again.

When the Blackthorn gates come into view, two warriors block my way. They stiffen the moment they catch my scent. They nudge each other playfully with their elbows, as if trying to piss me off. One steps forward, his fingers on the trigger of his gun, ready to kill me if I start in trouble.

I roll down my window just in time to see the sneer on his face. Southpaw pup. State your business.”

I bare my teeth, and Storm inches to the surface. Charlotte,I growl her name. Storm pushes farther to the surface, melding his horrific voice with my own. Where is she?

The guards flinch, clearly not expecting me to be so angry. They don’t look at me; instead, they exchange glances. Their wary faces are enough to tell me the truth. She is here.

I wait as patiently as I can as the warriors decide how to handle my arrival. Charlotte is here, and I am sure Ronan has told them not to let anyone know. But jokes on them, I already do, and if they think their little guns will stop me, they are mistaken.

After what seems like forever, they wave me through. I feel relief, but Storm is still looking for a fight. His growls rumble through my lips until the pack house comes into view.

By the time I stride into the pack house, he is pacing so violently my head feels like it will crack in two. Her scent is everywhere, and each step without her by my side is a knife twisting deeper in my chest. She is here with him, a man who rejected her publicly when she should be with me. Hell, Damon would be a better choice than this asshole. Doing my best to maintain my composure, I follow her scent through the halls. My eyes dart around, looking for her.

And then I see her.

She is standing in the hallway with her arms wrapped around herself. Lucian looms over her, like a guard dog, and Ronan hovers behind her, his body almost pressing against her back. Storm lurches forward at the sight, and it takes everything I have not to shift right here and kill them for standing so close to what is mine.

They are deep in discussion and don’t notice me watching them. Lucian’s eyes are glued to Ronan, waiting for him to make the wrong move, but Charlotte’s eyes are focused on the floor in front of her. A single tear drips down her cheek, but she wipes it away before they notice. But I noticed.

Lotte, her nickname, comes out rougher than I intended.

Her beautiful eyes snap to mine, wide and sparkling with tears. The bond snaps between us again, offering relief to Storm. He whines pathetically in my mind, demanding that I close the space between us.

She doesn’t speak to me, but Lucian steps around her, arms crossed over his chest. She doesn’t need you here.

He thinks he can come between us, but I think he has forgotten just how dangerous my wolf can be.

Since when do you care about what she does?I snarl. From what I can remember, you hate each other.

Lucian bristles, but doesn’t back down. Have you forgotten that I am also your Alpha?

I see red. My claws bite through my palms. Move,I snarl.

Charlotte’s hand shoots out, pressing against Lucian’s arm before it comes to blows. Jake, Lucian, stop. Please.” Her brows wrinkle as she looks at me. Why are you here?

Her voice eases my wolf, if only barely. I drag in a breath, but the fury doesn’t ease. You disappeared, Lotte. Do you have any idea what that did to me? My wolf nearly tore half the damn pack apart trying to get to you.
