Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO novel Chapter 709

Chapter 709: Dreaded to face the worst.

Aiden paused as he stared back at Idris evenly. Although his expression betrayed nothing, his mind flickered with the faintest memory from a decade ago.

They had crossed paths once —at the hospital —but there was no need to revisit a past better left forgotten.

Shaking his head lightly, Aiden answered calmly. "We didn’t."

Idris studied him for a moment longer, his sharp eyes narrowing slightly as if trying to dig through the fog of his memory. But eventually, he gave a small nod, conceding. "Maybe I am connecting you to someone else. Don’t mind an old man’s confusion."

Just then, the door to the room opened again, and Robin stepped inside. His gaze darted to look at Aiden once before shifting back to Idris. "Sir," he started to report, "I talked with Mr. Blackwood. He said he would be visiting Madam today."

Idris nodded. "Ask him to be prompt in everything. I want all of it to settle as soon as possible."

Robin nodded in understanding.

Right after, Arwen returned. She paused briefly, finding Robin there. But then she walked in and offered a smile to Idris, saying, "I just met the doctor. He said that they will monitor you today, and if everything stays stable, they will shift you to the general VIP ward tomorrow."

Idris smiled. "Then come and meet me tomorrow in the general ward."

Arwen arched a brow at him. "Are you asking me to leave now?"

"Can I ask you to leave?" Idris asked as though he would dare.

She pouted slightly and shook her head. "No, you can’t, given that you are weak and still need someone to stay around."

Idris nodded. "Then I am not asking you to leave," he said gently. "I am just asking you to return to rest. So that when you come and visit me tomorrow, you will be all fresh and fine."

"But Dad, you can’t be here alone," she reasoned, her brows tugging in a frown of concern.

And reassuring her, Idris smiled, "I won’t be alone here." He jutted his chin out towards Robin and said, "he would be here for me, and later I would ask him to get me someone who could look after me until I get better. There is no need for you to worry. Just get back home and rest. You look tired, and I can’t bear to see my princess like this."

Arwen wanted to refuse the idea, but then, considering it again, she turned to Robin and said, "Mr. Robin, I would have to trouble you. Please look after my father for some time. I will be back in the evening."

Robin smiled and nodded. "Miss, please don’t worry. I will be here with Sir all the time."

Arwen glanced back at Idris. "I will be coming in the evening. Rest well and don’t stress over anything. You need a lot of stress-free rest for efficient recovery."

Idris nodded.

With that arranged, Arwen and Aiden left the room. As they exited the hospital, Neil was there in the car waiting for them, right at the entrance.

They got inside the car, and Arwen looked at Neil, saying, "Please ask Alfred to bring back the car later."

However, Selene simply smiled. "It’s not that bad, Carla," she said, her voice carrying the hints of satisfaction. "I might be in pain because of it. But when I think that this paint only proves the success I received yesterday, I don’t feel bad. After all, Arwen has already gone. Now, Aiden would be mine."

Carla still looked at her with worry. "But this is still bad," she said, looking at Selene’s wrist, which was now badly swollen.

Selene didn’t mind. She just let her apply medicine to the bruise while she sat back, still savouring her achievement.

When Carla was done, she looked at her and voiced out what was troubling her. "To be honest, Ms. Selene, I was so scared yesterday. The way everything turned out, I dreaded that you would face the worst."

"But then the Old Master didn’t react at all. It was as if he simply didn’t see it at all." The old nanny paused and then added again. "I used to think that he favoured that woman. But given how he let you slide away after what you did, it feels he never approved of her."

Selene’s gaze turned deep when she heard Carla mention it. Morgan’s attitude even puzzled her. But then, when she thought about how deep a friendship he shares with her grandfather, she deduced that he would approve of her more than he approved of Arwen.

"Grandpa Winslow knows better who is more suitable to be the daughter-in-law of the family. There is no way he would disapprove of me or what I did to get Aiden." She said, and a smug smile tugged at her lips.

Carla was about to nod in agreement when the sound of car pulling into the driveway made her pause. She hurried to the balcony and peeked down.

"Ms. Selene!" Carla turned back quickly. "He is back. It seems like he has returned alone. That woman hasn’t come back with him."

However just as she said that, Arwen stepped out of the car.
