Giselle calmly wiped the water from her face and didn't lose her cool.

She gave Dorothea a thin smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Mrs. Kane, you're the matriarch of the Kane family. You represent its image. How could you act as rashly as I do?"

Upon hearing this, Dorothea gritted her teeth in silence. She was itching to slap Giselle, but she eventually controlled herself.

"Who allowed you in here?" she asked, despite already knowing the answer.

"My husband," Giselle responded sincerely. "He appointed me the head of this branch company so I could share some of his workload. That way, he could have some weight off his shoulders. Isn't that what you always wanted for him?"

"Get out of here this instant!" the old woman snapped, her tone sharpened with fury. She was clearly here after hearing Donovan had entrusted Giselle with great responsibilities and was here to stop it. "I don't care what kind of pillow talk you used to convince him, but don't think you can stir up trouble in my company!"

Giselle let out a soft chuckle at her outburst. "Mrs. Kane, shouldn't you enjoy a quieter life at your age? You could go gardening, raise cats, go to spas, do charity, or pray in churches. Why waste your time and energy meddling in the company? Donovan is more than capable, and his choices will never harm the Kane family."

For a moment, Dorothea could only stare at her as she was struck silent by Giselle's brazen shamelessness.

"You know your son better than anyone. He built the Kane empire to its current scale and defeated countless rivals in the industry. Do you really think I could fool him so easily? With his intelligence, it would be hard to fool him. I'm at his mercy, not the other way around," Giselle added.

Dorothea scowled at her. "I see that shamelessness is your greatest weapon."
