Giselle had no intention of scheming against Dorothea with the same tricks she had used on Renee and Grace, as it would only ruin her marriage.
After blow-drying her hair, she lay on the bed and replied to her employees' messages.
Now that she was working in Concord Pharmaceuticals' branch company, she had officially entered a nonstop work routine with hardly a moment of rest.
Her veterinary clinics ran as usual, though she no longer oversaw them directly. She had placed the day-to-day operations in the hands of trustworthy managers. All she had to do was set goals, track revenues, and occasionally come in to handle tricky medical cases.
Most of Giselle's energy now went into the pharmaceutical subsidiary that specialized in developing and producing veterinary medicine. Her days were filled with endless meetings, stacks of files to review, and suppliers and distributors to negotiate with. She dealt with all kinds of people and animals.
Her shift from a carefree party girl to a professional manager had come surprisingly smoothly. Gifted and adaptable, she threw herself completely into work when duty called, and embraced life just as thoroughly when it was time to unwind.
The next morning, she came early to the company and gathered more than a dozen senior executives for a meeting to discuss strategies for the next quarter's product launches.
The meeting notice had been sent out the day before, but the turnout was anything but cooperative. Only half of the executives arrived on time, a few came in late, and two didn't bother showing up.
As for those who did attend, none of them took her seriously. They slouched in their seats, scrolling through their phones, whispering among themselves, or simply staring off in boredom. To them, their general manager wasn't worth acknowledging.
