Burn Those Who Burned Me novel Chapter 244

Chapter 244

The day my grandmother found out she was sick, we were told a potent, yet expense treatment would be needed in order to ensure her remission. By then, my cousin was already in his four year research program and my grandmotherwellshe would never do anything to interrupt the dreams of her babies.

Marlon’s eyes began to water uphe knew his grandmother had probably ordered Josie not to tell him what was going on.

Like a foolI thought I could go to my biological parents. I thought they would at least show mercy towards the woman that raised their biological child….but I was wrong.

Tears began to slide down Josie’s cheeks as she recalled the accident.

That was of course until their precious daughter and sister Vanessa decided to drive drunk killing a young mother. My biological family offered me a choicewatch my grandmother die….or take the fall for Vanessa.

Adrianna’s eyes darkened. She couldn’t believe her ears; the story was too incredible to be true. All this time, she’d thought the cruelest person in the world was James Watson….turns out….there were people far worse.

Georgia and Evelyn shook their heads in disgust; they’d already heard the story but hearing it all over againthe anger and pain was

instant.

The table sat quietly for a few moments before Josie spoke. Smiling bitterly, she continued.

I guess you can tell which option I chose. The day I plead guilty to vehicular homicide, I gave my father a list with three requests. 1put money on my books2visit at least twice a month so that others would know I was protected by House Taylor. And 3….take care of my grandmother. That part actually wasn’t a requestit was more of reiteration of a deal made.

Adrianna looked puzzled.

Soyour nana….is she

No.

Adrianna’s eyes widen in horror; not only had these people stolen her freedom, but they also couldn’t even keep their end of the bargain.

Unfortunately they held up none of their parts of our deal.

Josie laughed bitterly.

In hindsight, I should have had a contract drawn up….who knew.

I spent four years in that hell hole they call a prison. The things that were done to me was…..

Josie’s words trailed off as she felt her emotions starting to take over. The dark memories of her time in that place began to flood her mind. Taking a deep breath; she composed herself before continuing.

My very first night was met with beatings from my cellmates followed by daily beatings from other inmates. I was placed in the infirmary so many times I was on first name basis with the personal.

I thought that was the worse of it. Constantly getting beat, messing with my food so I wouldn’t eat….I told myself it couldn’t be any worse….turns out I was wrong about that too.

Tears began to pool from Josie’s eyes. Marlon and Joshua could feel themselves tensing up. Tillman. Josie was finally going to reveal what happened.

The first time I met officer TillmanI had just got out of the infirmary. He was waiting for me by my cell and asked me to come with him to his office.

He smiled; told me it was a shame what was happening to me. I actually thought he wanted to help me….another miscalculation. The minute I realized we weren’t going towards an office I began to panic.

Tillman grabbed me by my hair and dragged me to this dirty vacant cell. I knewknew what he was going to do. I tried my hardest to fight him off. It didn’t workI think he actually took joy in it. He was a sadistic animal like that.

The first time he…..I knew I would never be the same. That went on for four yearsone day I asked him why he was doing this to me….that’s when he said I pissed someone off. I knew thenit was only person that could beVanessa.

It was truethe Taylors didn’t care for mebut they wouldn’t have been foolish enough to torture me in prison knowing at any moment I could reveal the truth.

Josie looked up at Adrianna and the others at the table. By now, everyone was either crying or looked deathly uncomfortable. Wiping the tears from her eyes. Josie smiled.

So that’s my story Ms. Delgato. I’m telling you this because you deserve to know who you’re working with and what their motives are. I used to say my revenge wasn’t personal towards methat it was because they failed my grandmother

Josie’s eyes suddenly darkened. The heat from her hatred spilling into her pupils as they began to dilate.

But that’s not true. I want them to pay for what they did to me too! For taking away everything that made me innocent….for robbing me of everything that made this world pure through my eyes. I them all to burn.

So I ask you Ms. Delgato….will you help me? Because in return….I will help you.

Adrianna’s eyes widen. The tears rolling down her cheeks. What started out as an intriguing evening turned into an actual horror story. It made her realize just how trivial her own hatred was. Still….she admired this woman for holding on to those flames of revenge and not letting it go. Many years ago that was her, but she chose to run away.

Taking a sip of her wine, a mischievous grin appeared on Adrianna’s lips.

Well….that was certainly some story…..Hell hath no fury….Ms. Bowen. Consider me a demon of your fortune.

Josie smiled brightly; she felt an enormous weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Evenly was right; talking about it did help.

After the plan was formed, everyone began to eat and drink; getting to know each other on a lighter tip. Marlon, however, was unusually quiet. Josie began to feel bad, perhaps this shouldn’t have been the first time her cousin heard all of the details. Tugging at his shirt, Josie signaled for Marlon to follow her out onto the patio.

Yes! Finally it’s cold!

Josie smiled brightly as she looked into the deep night sky. She couldn’t explain it, but she felt so much lighter. Marlon looked at his
