Alexander’s eyes lit up with pure joy. “A Sterling never goes back on his word! If I ever lie to you, you can…”
“I can what?”
“You can kick me into the sea, just like when we first met.”
Sophia laughed out loud.
In the days that followed, Alexander treated Sophia like the center of the universe. She casually mentioned a craving for Italian food, and half an hour later, a three–star Michelin chef and his entire team were at their door. She frowned in her sleep, and Alexander had all the carpets in the villa replaced with a softer material.
Most importantly, the entire Sterling family adored her. She hadn’t felt this cherished in years. Her new life felt like a dream.
“Is he crazy?”
“That’s billions!”
Alexander looked down at her, his eyes shining. “If I wasn’t afraid of burdening you, I would have given you 100%.”
Someone in the crowd started chanting, “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
The tips of Alexander’s ears turned bright red as he looked at Sophia tentatively. Just as he leaned in to kiss her-
