The helicopter landed on a private island at dawn. The roar of the rotors died down, replaced by the sound of waves crashing
against the rocks.
Vincent carried Sophia off the aircraft. The moment her feet touched the ground, she shoved him away.
“Illegal confinement?” she sneered, her wedding dress whipping in the sea breeze. “When did Vincent Marcelli stoop to such
low–life tactics?”
Vincent didn’t get angry
”
“Sophia, let’s start over,” Vincent said, hugging her from behind. He rested his chin on her head, his voice low and raspy. “As if none of it ever happened.”
Sophia broke free and turned to face him with a cold smile. “Vincent, when did you learn to lie to yourself?”
